Advertisement Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Hi bephoto, Take a look here Does the new fast (280mb/s) SD Cards work with M?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
digitalfx Posted June 21, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 21, 2014 they work....have zero advantage. They require a new interface to take advantage of faster speeds.
TheGodParticle/Hari Posted June 21, 2014 Share #3 Posted June 21, 2014 Yes they work and no there is no advantage. I have a few of them and even for video the maximum size allowed is 4GB. It's just overkill buying 64GB/128GB cards, 280mbs is fully unnoticed. If anything it takes a long time to transfer the images from the 64/280 card over to my laptop so I'm back to the 64/95MBPS cards which seem to work faster for me on the M240. Btw, they do not work on the M9 and MM. The upper limit seems to be 32GB/95MBPS for the M9 and MM.
AlanJW Posted June 22, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 22, 2014 I agree on fast cards giving no shooting/saving advantage in the camera and big cards being overkill. But don't fast cards load quicker into your computer?
Echo63 Posted June 22, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 22, 2014 I agree on fast cards giving no shooting/saving advantage in the camera and big cards being overkill. AlanJW Posted June 22, 2014 Share #6 Posted June 22, 2014 Providing you have a cardreader and interface that takes advantage of the speed USB3 cardreader (Kingston) works pretty well and is a real improvment over USB2. I had tried firewire 800 also, but firewire readers are less of an improvement and also hard to find.
bephoto Posted June 22, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted June 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) According to this guy its 2-times faster on a camera that doesn't have UHS-II (i.e. M240) About Photography: How fast is a SDHC UHS-II card in a Fuji X-T1 if this is true I would get also the new Sandisk reader which is designed for these cards
lct Posted June 22, 2014 Share #8 Posted June 22, 2014 I don't see significant differences between Toshiba 95 & 260 MB/s 16 GB cards on both M240 and Fuji X-E2 personally.
kape06111 Posted June 23, 2014 Share #9 Posted June 23, 2014 It is because until now the full performance of the card is only supported on the Fuji XT1. WHile on the Xt1 you notice the difference in comparison to a card with a speed of 95, on the M240 it is not noticeable. I have both bodies M240 and Xt1. paulsydaus Posted June 25, 2014 Share #11 Posted June 25, 2014 I don't believe the M will take any advantage of anything faster than 30Mbps from what I read in either the manual or LFI. I use 95Mbps and the download speed on the card reader in my MacBook Pro is very impressive.

cirke Posted July 5, 2014 Share #13 Posted July 5, 2014 Then what is the best 32gb SD card actually for M 240 ?
lct Posted July 5, 2014 Share #14 Posted July 5, 2014 Not sure if there are fast 32 GB cards for the M 240. As far as startup times are concerned, my two ones are my slowest SDHCs (Sandisk Extreme Pro 95 MB/s, Toshiba Exceria 95 MB/s).

rramesh Posted July 7, 2014 Share #16 Posted July 7, 2014 Why do we need to use cards faster than what Leica advises? Do we want to take a picture before pressing the shutter?
cirke Posted July 7, 2014 Share #17 Posted July 7, 2014 Why do we need to use cards faster than what Leica advises? Chuck Albertson Posted July 7, 2014 Share #18 Posted July 7, 2014 USB3 cardreader (Kingston) works pretty well and is a real improvment over USB2. I had tried firewire 800 also, but firewire readers are less of an improvement and also hard to find. I've noticed the same thing with the USB3 card reader that Sandisk sells -- much faster transfer than the USB2 card reader built in to my Lenovo. digitalfx Posted July 7, 2014 Share #19 Posted July 7, 2014 Why do we need to use cards faster than what Leica advises? Do we want to take a picture before pressing the shutter? Its the eternal quest to have a faster Leica. Maybe someday Leica will stoop using outdated hardware on new models...the M240 is a major improvement, but still slower than every other camera on the market. IMO this is not acceptable in a high end brand.
