spylaw4 Posted June 11, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted June 11, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) So far IIRC, no-one seems to have mentioned that Leica don't produce a 52mm UV filter for the T. Both initial lenses take the same size - fortunately. Â Is this a glaring omission? Â (PS Just like they didn't do a 43mm for the XVario.)
Advertisement Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Hi spylaw4, Take a look here Filters. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rsh Posted June 11, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted June 11, 2014 B+W or Heliopan are fine if you want German made filters.
AlanJW Posted June 11, 2014 Share #3 Â Posted June 11, 2014 I am using one of the new Cokins that is 52mm and extraordinarily thin.
spylaw4 Posted June 11, 2014 Author Share #4 Â Posted June 11, 2014 I am well aware of the alternative makes on the market and have a B+W one fitted.
alexander Posted June 11, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted June 11, 2014 is there still a need for filters with modern lenses?
LeicaS2 Posted June 11, 2014 Share #6 Â Posted June 11, 2014 Polarizers are still useful and can't be exactly duplicated in post-processing. Some still like to use a UV filter for "protection". Many might want a ND filter to allow the use of f2 in bright light for limiting DOF. Otherwise at the lowest 125 ISO and a top speed of 4000, I believe you would be shooting at 2.8 rather than 2.0. jaapv Posted June 11, 2014 Share #7 Â Posted June 11, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica hardly sell any filters nowadays, except UV/IR and Polarizing.
spylaw4 Posted June 12, 2014 Author Share #8 Â Posted June 12, 2014 They actually sell UVa filters to fit (most of) their products, primarily 39, 46, 49, 55, 60mm. They're quite popular.
jaapv Posted June 13, 2014 Share #9 Â Posted June 13, 2014 They are rebranded B&W filters as far as I am aware, and the IR filters probably Marumi. In the past they made loads of different filters themselves, including a rather nice graduated yellow filter. I should have written make instead of sell.. Although I cannot recall seeing one in any shop...Top dealers probably stock them.
