gvaliquette Posted May 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) My venerable M9 now has a younger sibling, the M240. I have been collapsing my Elmar-M 50mm/f2.8 safely into the M9, mounting and dismounting extended, obviously. Can anyone, and the more, the more confident, confirm that I can do the same with the M240?
Advertisement Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Hi gvaliquette, Take a look here M240 and Elmar-M 50mm/f2.8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted May 23, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 23, 2014 Yes you can collapse it. Steve
chris_tribble Posted May 23, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 23, 2014 Works perfectly. It's my go-to lens for trekking. A large number of the images in this set are with the little 50 Elmar 2.8. I find that it's sharp right across the frame and renders colours very naturally. All the images in this set were done with the Elmar (+ a lot of other landscape work on the site): Enjoy! Herr Barnack Posted May 23, 2014 Share #5 Posted May 23, 2014 I have been wondering about this lens for use on the M240. I don't have a copy, but it is a very affordable optic for the M camera series. Does anyone have any M240/Elmar 50 images they can post?
gvaliquette Posted May 23, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted May 23, 2014 Carlos, It's a great little lens. Extremely compact when retracted, and, at its optimum at f5.6, it actually outperforms the Summicron (IV) except in the very corners and matches the Summarit, again except in the very corners! Hi - I'm putting up a small number of full resolution JPEGs from the Elmar 2.8. Hope they give you an idea. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/862415/example/L1006700.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/862415/example/L1006708.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/862415/example/L1006802-2.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/862415/example/L1008722.jpg Best

MarkP Posted May 30, 2014 Share #9 Posted May 30, 2014 There is something very nice about how these slightly older lenses (2.8/50, 1.0/50 Noctilux, 40 Summicron, 28-50 MATE, 75 Summilux, etc) render images on the M240.
james.liam Posted November 20, 2016 Share #10 Posted November 20, 2016 I'm wondering about this one too. I now have a 50 APO, which is pretty compact in its own right and for want of another superlative, quite fantastic. For those who have this lens, what about the rendering do you finding interesting/unique/appealing? Planning on an M262.
lct Posted November 20, 2016 Share #11 Posted November 20, 2016 50/2.8 v2 has more character whereas 50/2 apo is more transparent. Matter of tastes as always. graphlex Posted November 21, 2016 Share #12 Posted November 21, 2016 The two v2s I had (2007 black and 2003 chrome) were not all that sturdy but I did like their imaging character a lot, as many do.
sblutter Posted November 25, 2016 Share #13 Posted November 25, 2016 A great 'out for the day and evening' 50. In dodgy areas or weather, very sweet to sling the camera across your cheast, wear it under a jacket with lens collapsed. A big improvement over old Summi collapsible 50: Sharper + .7 meter focusing (vs 1.0 meter) It's my #2 lens (2.0 50 Summi V4 is #1). The other 15 or so lenses have yet to complain. Summi 40C also nice, totally underpriced forever.
