Holding my MP Classic up to the picture of the MA on the 1st page of this thread: They actually look pretty much the same, unless the MA has a different magnification or framelines. Mine's a plain-vanilla .72 with all the framelines. The difference to the normal MP is, externally, that the silvered stripe at the bottom of the front main window where the meter is projected is simply not there. That's something I also see on the MA. I'd be interested to see what they did on the back. The MP classic has a frankly useless ISO reminder plate. I'd far prefer something like the M2, where I can actually set something instead of resorting to drawing a circle around the ISO of the film I'm using with a permanent marker. From my basic maths of adding up the price of an MP and the three lenses, the total is around €22,000 so you are paying a lot for the tin box. A collectors’ special. If they make a standard listed product (not a "special" only), they'll end up with a product line with TWO Digitals (M and MM) and THREE Film (M7 - AE, MP - metered, M A - fully manual) , which is noticeable... I meant simply that I haven't read anywhere how is the finder/framelines of the M-A... I doubt they will provide a' la carte choice like in M7-MP... but had the idea (just a speculation) that being announced together with a new 28, maybe it has a VF "optimized" for it... a 0.58 ? lincoln_m Posted May 31, 2014 Share #93 Posted May 31, 2014 I'm disappointed too. If they make a camera without a meter it should have been a working Ur-Leica. The 100 year logo lead me to expect it. It could have been a digital but without a screen on the back then you have to wait until you "develop" the images on your computer before you see what you have. Maybe have no SD card either but built in memory for ~40 photos and a wifi link to send them to your phone,pad,or computer for developing. That way digital will have the same excitement as film as you have to "use the 40 shots" before you can download the pics. That might be a relatively cheap digital camera APS-C with manual focus "50mm" lens equivalent a bit like a digital minilux but with a normal 50mm viewfinder. Especially as the image capturing process on the sensor is analog while the capturing process on film is "digital" (either a silver halogenide crystal is activated or not, "one" or "zero").
