I just got a used M8. I used to have one and loved it...But how it is in life - I have sold the M8 and ever since I have missed the character of the M8. Now I got one for a great price and in very good condition. What I need now is a lense. I am in between a 40mm Summicron and a 35 mm Voigtländer Color-Skopar. I used to have the Color-Skopar but I wished it would be a bit faster like a -cron. I could get a used 40mm Summicron for a good price - I just don't know if I can live with the Focusring... Does anybody know if it's possible to change the Focusring? ... and what do you think about the 40mm cron? Or do you think the cron is in the same quality as the 35mm Voigtländer Color Skopar?

The Summicron 40 is one of the best suited lenses for the M8 in my experience. Provided one solves the filter size problem. I wonder what problem with focusring you are referring to.

Same here. And in my experience, the filter size problem does not exist as well. I simply use my regular 39mm filters and screw them in carefully - just not too much. Never had any problems using this method!

Go for the 40 Cron. It is the perfect, low budget match for the M8.

The focus tab is the one thing I miss on many lenses that go without - it is one of the best ergonomic additions a lens can have. The one on the Summicron is just fine.
