The principal purpose of a flower is the reproduction of the individual and the species and without pollination there would be no flowers . How sad that would be for mankind.:( Now you know why flowers are beautiful, to attract insects for pollination. Thank you mother nature:)

Hank,

good lighting and sharp details. Velvetian colors are attractive and our imagination of its fragrance is being aroused.

The pollination is a field for serious discussion here. Bees are dying fro different reason like monoculture, poison, environment pollution and genemanipulated crop. There is a warning from scientist that if the bees are dying, mankind will be dying very soon. Mankind is able to change agricultural methods, the problem is we are very slow to act accordingly because a shortsided business lobby is dominating our political decisions.

Thanks Iduna I have friends here in the Philippines and in the states that are honey bee raisers and they say that the biggest reason they are losing bees is due to the parasitic mite Varroa. also the bacterial disease European foulbrood is now being detected in U.S.and may be linked. At this time we are not sure why,but to summarize that the the pesticides are the main reason may not be completely correct. The EPA has been moving slow on this matter because of the money being made in these products.

best regards

Hank,

A beautiful picture and interesting dialogue with Iduna.

Paul

Thanks Paul I enjoyed the dialogue with Iduna and although I'm an Environmental Hygienist I don't have the answer why the honey bees are dying but I'm pretty sure

there are many who are blaming the manufactures like Shell & Bayer. For the past 20 years, parasitic mites have caused extensive damage to honey bees contributing to the disastrous bee colony collapse disorder (bcc). Hopefully before too long we find the answers.
