Steve,

Cool. Actually I have a 20-roll batch of Lomo purple sitting in the fridge as well as also lots of expired Velvia 100 slide film which I like to cross process.

Once the black and white film is done I'll stick a purple in to see how I fare with that. Are you using a filter in front of the lens with those films? I've only shot them in my Lomo or Olympus trip previously so had no filters attached.

Throw that film away. Why are you using a Leica with 'trick' film? You want Punk outcomes? Use a piece of s**t camera.

Welcome to my Ignore list.

Ignore our curmudgeonly colleague, he has no idea of art

Why use a precision instrument to make a sloppy outcome when a $5 camera would more than suffice?

Because it might be fun.

Victoria can enjoy using her camera with whatever 35mm film she chooses. I'm sure she knows what results the Lomo film are likely to give her.

I really don't see the problem. Or why it should be a problem to you.

What a completely disgraceful post to a new member seeking advice. Shame on you.

Ignore list? - I'm considering making you the first person on mine.

Why piss on others' chips? Use your camera as you see fit, in line with your vision.

Because considering the outcome a person could spend the camera money upon such things as food, shelter or travel.

Hi Victoria, the only filters I've been using are polarizer during the day doing double duty to improve cloud/sky contrast and to get a larger aperture for narrower DoF.

Evenings, I just put a UV/IR Cut filter on (I share these with my M8). Keep an eye out for your next Leica lens :)

I loved that camera - jewel of a Zeiss 35mm lens. Took it with me everywhere, loaded with BCN 400.

The only camera I ever really regretted selling.

The Contax wins out over the Nikon Ti35.

I think the Contax is more reliable, more pocketable, easier to use, better lens.

Oh and Victoria, welcome to the Forum. I'm sure we will all look forward to seeing the results from your new M7.

One regret that can be easily overcome :)

And with a nice L gear-bag like yours "no wheels&buttons = no good photographer" is no concern.

A great little seeing-trainer imo.

The equivalent of earl's 111f for an amateur like me. Yep 400ASA here too.

Oh you big silly. You know how to distinguish intentional life-long learning of vision from Instagram-like nonsense, do you not?

She may be able to take pictures with her Leica that look as if they had been made with a Lomo. Can you make pictures with a Lomo that look as if they had been made with a Leica?

There.

Pico,

Actually I posted a reply to you in the other thread I have running here at the moment. With all due respect the camera is just a tool - yes, a fabulous tool - but a tool nonetheless. For me, it's there to be used and enjoyed and played with which also means that I'll sometimes put so-called "funky" film in it just because I can and just because it will generate a different image to using great films like Tri-X or Velvia :)

After looking at your wonderful art, it is quite sensible how you'll be enjoying these new tools in short order ;)

I love the camera and electronically it seems to be perfect however I've had to take it back to the dealer (Red Dot Cameras ~ they're lovely too) as the spring in the frame counter needs tightening. It is not resetting to zero but that is a small issue and once done I'm sure I will enjoy the camera for a very long time. I just wish I had the money to get a 35mm lens too but really 50 is great and I've lived with 50mm as an only lens for many years in the past.

Hi Victoria

I am sure Red Dot will sort it out for you :)

I am considering an M7 too. Apart from the older style DX system, is there anything else I should look for, especially with an older one? How much if a problem is the old style DX (I usually rate manually, even with DX coding). Any "first batch" idiosyncrasies to keep an eye out for? Would the RF be less flare prone than my M4-2?

Thanks,

Julian
