When the M11 wasn’t announced in November 2021 I bought one of the last M10R BP that my Leica (Mayfair London) store had. When it arrived I LOVED the look and feel of it. It’s just stunning aesthetically. And I immediately loved the photos coming off it, I think the 40mp sensor has a really lovely look over the m10’s 24mp sensor. I got an M11 black straight away without seeing in the shop first and when the box arrived (I’d already read Jono’s review) I was surprised by the lighter feel and my knee-jerk reaction was “This feels like a toy!” But now using it for a week or so I am used to it. still not crazy about the aesthetics and will probably switch to the -P edition but you can’t have everything. As for the 10R BP? It IS still beautiful and I really really do love it and it delivers all I really need –the 11 has useful features but I don’t need them, I just like them– but I am selling the 10R BP as I don’t really have call for a stack of cameras on the shelf. I already miss it since I have re-boxed it.

Considering how bad the waiting list is in London -I added my name to the Leica Store Mayfair list at the beginning of February! -even though I've had four black Ms and I think I'd prefer black I told the store I'm not bothered about the colour. Whatever comes in so long as I can get one.

New Leica M in September 2016? The speculations.
VictoriaC replied to Paulus's topic in Leica M (Type 240 / 262)
Since the thread now has so many posts regarding an EVF for the M, have readers read Thorsten Overgaard's most recent page on his site? About focusing the M? His experience of M users, through his photography workshops he hosts all over the world point towards a potentially very high demand for an EVF to be a vital part of the next M design, and improved on what the 240 is. FWIW I have gone from hating the EVF-2 to now only ever using my Noctilux lens if I have the the EVF as well and even liking the EVF when I am using my Summilux lenses as I like to shoot wide open (using a ND filter) and l appreciate the exposure preview assistance as otherwise I find that I will a fantastically exposed background but a poorly exposed subject! What I would miss in an integrated EVF is the 90-degree swivel. It's a feature I also use a lot these days. -

I bought my 246 as soon as it was available but I still don't use it even half as much as my 240 and yet I do convert a lot of my colour work to B&W but anyway... One of things I noticed Thorsten Overgaard write about is the issue of overexposed files on the 246 and he suggests shooting with camera set to -0.3 EV which I do but even then I still find I am toning down the highlights a lot in Lightroom and also increasing black or contrast. Does anyone find that files are just too grey or pale for them? Have you adjusted your EV permanently? Oh and FWIW I have a whole bunch of lenses including the Nocti 95 but I find that the Lux 35 FLE is my most used lens ...sometimes the Lux 50. I love the Nocti look but find I only use it when I specifically take a camera out in the evening and know it will be very low light situations. The main post was really about exposure not lenses! Thanks.

Yes, the camera is registered and I get emails in general from Leica so I will just carry on as I do. Ho hum. Thank you for the replies.

Am I missing something? I just want to check... I've checked online and can't see anything, has there been a firmware update? I'm still on 1.0.0.4 and I am surprised that 12 months down the line Leica have made no alterations the camera. Hmm.

Will next M feature internal Epson EVF?
VictoriaC replied to MRJohn's topic in Leica M (Type 240 / 262)
You know, this has been one of the more interesting threads to read of late… thank you. Oh and wattsy, please don't quote me out of context. The "mistaken…" line was part of the following paragraph and not referring to the paragraph you chose to include in your quote of me. :-) -

I disagree with you. "No wide angle effect, no increased or decreased field-of-view, no depth-of-field effect"? Really? Why do we have different lenses on our Ms then? Or zooms? Why do I have a set of f/1.4 lenses and a Noctilux 0.95? I may be mistaken but I think that the rangefinder goes back to a time when the mirror mechanism of the SLR had yet to be produced (?) and as much as I have enjoyed Canon and nikon and Pentax SLRs in my past, I love the M240 and my M6 and M7 for their aesthetic loveliness AND the lens results... the fact that the lenses are beautifully compact (save for the f/0.95) is a mega bonus too! A built-in EVF would mean I would never have to use that annoying "piece of plastic" stuck on top of my M again (I like what it gives me but I hate its design and it being on top) and I could use my flash mount for other things such as the thumb-aid or an external mic. To say it's "the core reason it exists in the first place" ?! Please. Anyway, excuse me for getting so rattled, we are each entitled to our opinion. One last thing: I wonder how many regular users of this forum would actually be against a built-in EVF versus the same question asked in the Facebook M240 User Group which has over 10,000 members? -
Does your M grab people's attention?
VictoriaC replied to ducstar's topic in Leica M (Type 240 / 262)
At college a lot of my fellow students notice it (and I expected it, being in an art school) and drool and sometimes take photos with it with varying success since I have to show them how to use a RF first :-) but on the street its generally never noticed... only when I'm sitting down for a coffee and the camera is on the table, then I'll get men - generally around the 50 mark - notice it and then ask me questions and share their stories of having had one or known someone who had a Lieca such as their father or uncle. I imagine that the M-P is more discreet but the M6, M7 or M with its red dot does get noticed... and perhaps it's also the fact I'm a woman too. Go figure! -
Elliott - the Leica Monochrom (typ 246)

Great article, thank you. Out of interest, were the sample photos originally JPGs or did you shoot DNGs and then process? What's your general preference? -

I've already put my name down with my dealer - 2nd on the list. -
It seems to me to be a marketing ploy to sell more copies of a soon-to-be replaced camera body.

Yes but so? It's like change the record already. That's like saying Lieca was always film so why do digital or it was CCD so why do CMOS?
