echogallery Posted July 27, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Took a vacation to DC for 5 days in June. Figured we'd head over to the Lincoln Memorial in the morning since the sun hits it just right at that time of day. Their mom urged them to climb the steps, and the rest, as they say, is history. semrich Posted July 27, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 27, 2006 If one thinks about it there is a great deal of historic symbolism captured here besides the composition and light. Richard

stuny Posted July 27, 2006 Share #6 Posted July 27, 2006 Gary - Adding to the perfection of this shot is that the two children admiring "The Great Emancipator” are African American. I’m glad you got there early, and that you had the presence of mind to capture the moment.

fotografr Posted July 27, 2006 Share #8 Posted July 27, 2006 Very nice. This really shows the scale of the statue. Great use of light. You might also consider posting this in the People category. More people look there.

echogallery Posted July 28, 2006 Author Share #12 Posted July 28, 2006 Thanks for the generous words, one and all. Never saw the world as an editorial photographer before, but this one was hard not to see. It literally hit me in the face. Hope providence smiles on me again someday.
