Stealth3kpl Posted March 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've just loaded my CS4 (which I've had for a couple of years now) onto a new Windows 8.1 laptop, and Adobe are telling me that the serial number is out of date and I need to buy a new one. When did this start happening, and is there any way around it? Pete

leica dream Posted March 22, 2014 Share #3 Posted March 22, 2014 I had the same problem 12 months ago when I wanted to load my CS5 on to my new Macbook (previously on my Windows machine). I fought on the grounds that I was allowed to load on two machines for personal use, but no way because they were different platforms and my version was Windows. I even offered to sacrifice the Windows version, but still no way. Richard

philipus Posted March 30, 2014 Share #5 Posted March 30, 2014 Am I misunderstanding or does Adobe's Photoshop licence allow installing on two computers that one, as a private individual, owns provided they're the same platform? Cheers Philip
philipus Posted April 18, 2014 Share #6 Posted April 18, 2014 Ok I just discovered the licence terms of CS6. Here's from page 114: Portable or Home Computer Use. Subject to the restrictions set forth in Section 2.1.4, the primary user of the Computer on which the Software is installed under Section 2.1 (“Primary User”) may install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer or a Computer located at his or her home, provided that the Software on the portable or home Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Computer. Does anyone know if the highlighted text means that Photoshop won't work if both computers are running the program at the same time? The text is somewhat unclear in that it says that one may "install" provided the software is "not used at the same time". This could be read as the installation will fail if the other computer is running Photoshop during the installation. Cheers Philip
kdriceman Posted April 19, 2014 Share #7 Posted April 19, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Photoshop will work on both computers even if it is open and running at the same time on both. It will not activate on a 3rd computer though without de-activating on one of the first 2. I know the license says it should not be used at the same time on both computers, but they do nothing about that. I frequently have CS6 open and running on both my desktop and laptop simultaneously.
