NZDavid Posted April 24, 2014 Share #81 Posted April 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am very curious about this camera. Could well be a good AF back-up to the M instead of an X camera with the bonus of being able to retain existing investment in M lenses. I'm just back from Berlin, shame I missed this launch by a couple of weeks. Viel Spaß!

sblitz Posted April 24, 2014 Share #82 Posted April 24, 2014 looks like they made their version of the sony, for all those who have filled the digital forum ……. not really bad and i like the internal 16gb of memory and the ability to use m lenses ….. as long as i have my film leicas is this such a bad quick color alternative as opposed to keeping the m9? proof is in the execution, so we will see soon
jbl Posted April 24, 2014 Share #83 Posted April 24, 2014 I will say, I started wondering after I saw it “would this be a good camera for my wife?” I don’t know if it would be, but maybe the target audience is people who want a good camera, but really don’t want to deal with the size of an SLR. -jbl
Guest Posted April 24, 2014 Share #84 Posted April 24, 2014 leicarumors.com I think they got it exactly right + the X series will never canibalize the T. Maybe your wife has a look at the XV?
wlaidlaw Posted April 24, 2014 Share #85 Posted April 24, 2014 With the Diopter adjustment at the side, I wonder (and hope) that the EVF is a re-bodied Olympus/Epson VF-4 and the M240 will be updated to use it. Cross fingers. My personal view is that, if this is APS-C-ish, as seems to be the case, Leica will have made an economic mistake not going for MFT. They would maybe sell a few less (very few less) cameras but would sell a whole lot of lenses to Olympus and Panasonic camera users. Wilson
Peter H Posted April 24, 2014 Share #86 Posted April 24, 2014 ........... I don’t know if it would be, but maybe the target audience is people who want a good camera, but really don’t want to deal with the size of an SLR. -jbl Isn't it widely acknowledged that SLR sales are in serious decline because very few people like lugging them around, and for most people the convenience and usability of a small camera vastly outweighs the often marginal (and sometimes absent) performance advantages of a much larger camera. And isn't that a formula instantly recognisable to most Leica M users? The T's problem may be its very high price compared to its competitors, which is why so much will be made of its design features, as a way to try to distinguish it from Sony, Olympus etc. Sad, then, that so many people have already noticed how like a Samsung or NEX it looks, superficially at least. Let's hope that the real distinguishing feature will be the quality of its results.
Lightwrangler Posted April 24, 2014 Share #87 Posted April 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sad, then, that so many people have already noticed how like a Samsung or NEX it looks, superficially at least. On the Leica T I count 2 buttons, on any given Sony or Samsung or whatever I count more buttons and dials each time I start over. Mike
rramesh Posted April 24, 2014 Share #88 Posted April 24, 2014 Yes! I love this. It's exactly the direction for Leica to increase consumer appeal. Leica T Website is Made Live by Accident | La Vida Leica!

Paul J Posted April 24, 2014 Share #90 Posted April 24, 2014 I've been exceptionally and at times bitterly critical of Leica in the past but this gets nothing but high praise from me so far. I think the design is a work of genius. I don't feel there is any other camera in this category that is as special, unique and well thought, designed and manufactured as this. It's a complete package of perfection it seems and It already looks like a mature system too, so it's obvious they have been working on this a very long time and getting all the elements distilled and refined to perfection. I think it's really exciting to see this sort of innovation and painstaking attention to detail and a great measure of the company and everything I think Leica should be.
