dritz Posted February 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a new battery for my M8. The chargers takes 8+ hours to charge it... same as the old battery. Both batteries, when inserted into the camera, get an empty-battery response from the camera i.e., the battery icon shows up but blinks as empty. Is this the camera or the charger? Regards, Dean

jdlaing Posted February 22, 2014 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2014 I vote for the charger being bad. 8 hours is not right.
lct Posted February 22, 2014 Share #3 Posted February 22, 2014 Or you're using third party batteries. They may be full w/o showing it on the meter of the camera.
chris_livsey Posted February 22, 2014 Share #4 Posted February 22, 2014 The icon blinks and shows empty BUT does the camera work? If it does disable the screen off time and let the battery run flat that sould reset the internal meter. If not are these Leica or 3rd party batteries? 8 hours sounds wrong as well I'm afraid, is this a new time? I think we need more facts, lots more:rolleyes:

chris_livsey Posted February 23, 2014 Share #6 Posted February 23, 2014 The brand new battery is a Leica battery for an authorized dealer. So, I'd assume the charger... It would appear so, it is usual though for brand new batteries to have a partial charge. Around 40% rings a bell for long term storage conditions. M9reno Posted February 23, 2014 Share #7 Posted February 23, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) When the camera tells you the battery is low, press the 'SET' button.

JonathanChau Posted February 23, 2014 Share #9 Posted February 23, 2014 Same experience before, in my case the diagnosis is the charger problem. You can confirm this by borrowing a charger from your friend, or you can ask your leica dealer to have a test charge on your 2 batteries.
