PetJhones Posted January 10, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted January 10, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone and sorry to disturb you... Â I wanted to share my experience to buy my first Leica (with little resources). Â As I came across "Good Prices" in this shop, I visited them and they sold me a Leica M8 with supposedly 3000 auctions. When I had time to find out how to determined the number of auctions I realised it had actually 24000 auctions!! Â When I called them and after a long battle, they decided to exchange the camera for one with 6000 auctions. Â I learnt my lesson, check online and don't go to shops with bad reviews. Stay away from them! Â Thanks Peter
Advertisement Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Hi PetJhones, Take a look here Complain Camera Classic London. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Julian H Posted January 10, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted January 10, 2014 That dealer does not get the best reputation on here! Â Many years ago, I had a "lesser" experience with them also. I insisted on my money back at the time and am glad I did. In your position with the M8 I would have gone for that resolution too, there are loads of other M8's around at highly regarded London dealers for you to choose from. Â I hope your experience with your M8 is good from now on though:) Â Julian

farnz Posted January 15, 2014 Share #6 Â Posted January 15, 2014 They are pirates, and think, We clients are stupid. Go to aperture they are the best and friendly people. Or Red Dot Cameras who are equally as friendly, have excellent after sales care (if needed) and who also help to keep the use of this forum free for us through their advertising revenue. Â Pete. IWC Doppel Posted February 5, 2014 Share #10 Â Posted February 5, 2014 Leica Mayfair don't sell secondhand gear however! Â Fair point, but they are very accommodating at letting you try out current lenses without any obligation or commitment. I was persuaded to try an S last time I was there I had never tried one and they said just have a go see what you think, so I did

worth asking Leica Select in london if they do they used to have a few M8.2s but seems to have dried up now they passed 1 or 2 ex demo M8s below their criteria to ffordes, I think they are also gone

I can only imagine how they would handle a guarantee claim, or a customer's change of mind, or merchandise return. I would feel very uneasy buying there. I can only imagine how they would handle a guarantee claim, or a customer's change of mind, or merchandise return. I would feel very uneasy buying there. Â I went into TCC at the weekend. Unfortunately the camera I was looking at was faulty so I didn't even have to contemplate whether to buy or not. I never felt pressured in any way though. Having said that, RG Lewis, Caplan and Aperture [and High Street Photographic in Croydon] were all more friendly / welcoming. LCE in the Strand were nice and helpful too. Red Dot being closed caught me out which was a shame. Apparently they only open 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month!

Exactly: I tried an accessory some time back and wasn't impressed. I avoided saying "this is crap" but the guy's face immediately implied that I was. Mind you, they're dead keen for you to come in to the shop if you make a telephone enquiry.
earleygallery Posted February 18, 2014 Share #17 Â Posted February 18, 2014 Credit where it's due, whilst I've had less than satisfactory experiences when I've visited TCC in the past (and I tried parting with my money on some occassions but they made everything so difficult I didn't bother) I popped in the shop when I was in the area recently and overheard a salesman giving a customer very sound advice - he was looking at some lens or other and then started asking if he should sell his M8 for an M9/ME. Â He obviously knew this customer and the gist of the advice was basically keep the camera as he had bought several lenses already and then spend the money on more glass as he didn't have any actual need for FF over his M8.
