pimver Posted January 5, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I was happily shooting away with my M240, Nocti and EVF here in Vegas, when my LiveView (LV and EVF) stopped working. It hardly gives any resolution, is mainly black with some spots of white and when I use focus peak the entire screen has red dots and will never get in proper focus. This all combined with vertical black lines across the screen. I tried the usual; remover battery, change lens, remove EVF and replace but no joy. The pictures are taken ok and properly stored, so imho no sensor issue. Has anyone experienced this before? Thanks
Advertisement Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Hi pimver, Take a look here LiveView & EVF garbled. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Bill W Posted January 6, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2014 Very strange indeed. Did the battery have a decent charge on it at the time. LV does deplete the battery quicker.
paulsydaus Posted January 6, 2014 Share #3 Posted January 6, 2014 I guess you will need to try, if you can, a second EVF to narrow down the problem... Hopefully there is a camera shop nearby that you can borrow one to test... Failing that, it sounds like a warranty/service job... Hopefully it's the EVF (it does sound like it) which is much easier to replace...

Oh I just read your post again, and you said LV on the back of the camera is also failed. Unfortunately this does sound like a camera issue... I fear it will need to go back to Germany... brill64 Posted January 7, 2014 Share #5 Posted January 7, 2014 switch off camera, remove evf, perform battery pull/re-insert & factory reset to default camera settings. If exposed to direct sunshine for extended use periods, evf may overheat so allow it too cool off.
jaapv Posted January 7, 2014 Share #6 Posted January 7, 2014 Not much chance of sunlight over here right now... Overheat - I wish. It is too warm for the time of the year, true, it is ten Centigrade.

pimver Posted January 12, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted January 12, 2014 All, It doesn't have to do anything with EVF, it also show up in LV. And the pictures themselves are "normal" Also it floats in an out, after a few days not using the camera it is back to normal, or in some instances less than it has been. With this erratic behaviour it will be difficult to replicate if and when I send it in Pim
