AndyMc Posted December 30, 2013 Author Share #21 Posted December 30, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry guys What's the 14037 cap used for? They are both described as a hood for the 12586? By design one seems to fit within the internal diameter and the 14163 fit around the outside? Any thoughts Andy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Both were sold in the box together with the lens and the shade. 14037 with early samples, 14163 with late ones IIRC.
lct Posted December 30, 2013 Share #23 Posted December 30, 2013 So was there ever a cap made to attach to the front of the hood whilst attached? Or can you attach a lens cap ? I prefer to cover the lens if possible without having to remove / reverse the hood?... The lens cap is the 14007. See my post above: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/2589855-post7.html I don't know if it fits into the hood in normal position. In fact the lens was sold together with one hood and one hood cap as i said above but there was no lens cap in the box. The modern habit to put a cap over hoods in normal position did not exist then IIRC.

I don't think Leitz made a cap for the hood in shooting position, but any generic 62mm "pinch cap" will fit the Summilux hood: (Corrected: 62mm not 52mm) Welcome, dear visitor!
