Santa Claus does exist for adults

I read the UK had some adapters delivered in November, but the only one I saw in the US, until I got the call about mine coming, was on Lloyd Chambers website. Do not know how he got it or if it was a PR photo. Dale Photo in FL apparently had one, but I think it was picked up in Europe and they have it for in house use.

Trouble is they are coming so late that many have opted for the Novoflex coded adapter. I have one of those, but it does not bring up the R lens list on my current M. What a pity since it worked well on my earlier M's.

There was one adapter on display at PhotoExpo in NY in October. The Leica US people had one in San Francisco at the LHSA meeting the next week. I suspect it was the same one that was with them at PhotoExpo. Other than that there have been very few seen in the US. Certainly not at my dealer, and certainly not in my hands.

So perhaps the one Lloyd Chambers showed on his website was a photo taken at one of the Photo shows and not one he had in his hands or perhaps he got to use it for a few days.

Thanks for the info. I hope I do not feel the need to buy any R stuff.

I received an exciting email today from the Leica Store. It turns out that Solms saw fit after 15 months to finally send an R-M adapter to the store and it is en route to me for delivery 24 December.

Received it yesterday.

Beautiful finish.

I don't see any other explanation to the delay than the slow startup of the new factory in Portugal.

Yes, I posted an image taken with that lens on the M some time ago under Jaap's thread about R lenses on the M240. Not a large lens and renders beautifully IMHO. I actually have two, one which takes the 1.4x and 2x of course and another that only takes the 2x. Must say I seldom use the 1.4x since when I want reach I go for the 2x or when I want a shorter reach I use the 105-280 or put the 2x on the APO 70-170. That said I like the size of the 180/2.8 for long distance travel which I find myself making more often than not.Put the STA-1 on it and an RRS QR foot on that STA and it is superb.
