I think if Leica are to maintain premium product prices they will have already thought long and hard about spares. Otherwise they will only be in the high end camera business as long as it takes for an evolving trend in un-repairable camera's to become evident to the enthusiasts that spend the money. If sixty camera's in Australia turned into sixty un-repairable M9 camera's Leica would stop selling M240's and the M360 would be still born because no future customers (at least not enough) would be willing to risk it ever again. Is this supposed to be our "eureka" moment? Don't tell Leica about competitor's colour feature please, and at this stage in the MM product life cycle how can you possibly know how long an MM lasts? Many owners of Sony and Nikon change camera bodies when new models are released. I dumped my Sony within 6 months of purchase. It fell apart. Take the SD card (with some colour images) out of your M and insert it into the MM. Press Play and ......Voila! your colour images will be displayed on the rear LCD. Warranties are enforceable contracts, and alternative replacements may be Leica's only option in those circumstances. Warranty periods aren't the only protection for consumers. I'm sure Leica have spares in the pipeline. Its just unfortunate that publicity about repair delays is unsettling current and potential customers. If you bought a crappy car you'd feel happy knowing that when it broke down the manufacturer would offer a discount on another crappy car, then another, then another? In fact, 2 hours ago, I saw that my trusty dealer just got a single one in stock, so I phoned him on the spot and reserved it… My main problem right now is that I cannot possibly get there to collect it until well after the holidays.
