Advertisement Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Hi Paulus, Take a look here New Leica M Monochrom. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Paulus Posted November 26, 2013 Author Share #2 Posted November 26, 2013 This Leica M Monochrom could be the end of a cycle. The beginning of the cycle starts sometime with a special edition and the end of a cycle. Time for a new M Monochrom: a "Typ 240" Monochrom?
Jeff S Posted November 26, 2013 Share #3 Posted November 26, 2013 I'm not surprised by the launch date of 11/12/13, as I noted in my second sentence of this post from last month, which was more cynical. Jeff
marcg Posted November 26, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 26, 2013 Isn't it more likely to be some designer version of the M9/MM?
Guido Posted November 26, 2013 Share #5 Posted November 26, 2013 But what about this old article dating from April 2013? The second paragraph reads: At Palm Springs, Gibson, a noted Leica user, will be shooting with a new piece of equipment—a “Ralph Gibson” signature Leica M Monochrom camera
Jeff S Posted November 26, 2013 Share #6 Posted November 26, 2013 Isn't it more likely to be some designer version of the M9/MM? Of course....there is nothing in the OP's link to suggest otherwise. Jeff
jaapv Posted November 26, 2013 Share #7 Posted November 26, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) It is a special edition ordered by Transcontinenta the Dutch importer to celebrate the opening of a Leica store. There are precedents for that, like the “Colombo 500” M6 commissioned by an Italian dealer and the”Year of the Rooster” M6 by a Taiwanese dealer a few years later, and some more. They never appeared to be synchronized with a production cycle, so no conclusions can be drawn. I’ll try and find the time to drop by the introduction ceremony, as I have been invited and if I make it I’ll report back.

IWC Doppel Posted November 26, 2013 Share #10 Posted November 26, 2013 I hope there will be a MM240 coming out, I can pick up a second-hand MM(9) and live happily ever after
wattsy Posted November 27, 2013 Share #11 Posted November 27, 2013 I'm more interested in the new Gibson book 'MONO' that is published in the new year (assuming it is new work, of course).
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted November 27, 2013 Share #12 Posted November 27, 2013 There WILL be a MM-240. It´s most likely cheaper to produce the 240-v/f only than having the old v/f as the more costly item within a parallel production line. That was leaked from Bl_ckwatercircles these days ... It will be around for PHOTOKINA otherwise SONY and/ or FUJI might be already there. Best GEORG
Guido Posted November 27, 2013 Share #13 Posted November 27, 2013 There WILL be a MM-240. It´s most likely cheaper to produce the 240-v/f only than having the old v/f as the more costly item within a parallel production line. Well, in addition to the MM they would have to end the production of M-E, M7 and MP too if one vf type was their goal.
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted November 27, 2013 Share #14 Posted November 27, 2013 Yes, that´s true, but I was thinking more along the line of their current pixelhunter-cameras, the M-E could probably also be upgraded without too many hazards v/f-wise if they wish to ... Guest malland Posted November 28, 2013 Share #15 Posted November 28, 2013 I'm more interested in the new Gibson book 'MONO' that is published in the new year (assuming it is new work, of course). There are few pictures from this new book in the archive section of Gibson website. These look like new picture, but not a development of his vision. —Mitch/Chiang Mai Looking for Baudelaire [WIP]

Ted Lemon Posted November 28, 2013 Share #17 Posted November 28, 2013 Please NO!! DONT ruin the Monochrom with silly video and useless live view. Please Leica just leave the camera alone and keep it as it is. Amazingly there are those of us out there who want nothing to do with a CMOS based and "Me too" inspired Monochrom!! strongly agree with this statement - don't ruin a wonderful camera. k_g_wolf ✝ Posted November 28, 2013 Share #18 Posted November 28, 2013 Please NO!! DON´T ruin the Monochrom !! Agreed, I was only thinking along the v/f-line. CMOS and it´s features are not necessarily a must with the MM. Best GEORG
pieterpronk Posted November 28, 2013 Share #19 Posted November 28, 2013 If there is going to be a new Monochrom I doubt it can be released more than half a year before the next M, which hopefully will be much better at both color and b&w than a boring CMOS-MM could be at b&w.
