charlesphoto99 Posted November 13, 2013 Share #21 Posted November 13, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I never use a box. I find them very difficult to grasp and haven't found a bag that would fit it properly. Oh well, there goes the resale value...
Advertisement Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Hi charlesphoto99, Take a look here Disappointed with the new M240 Box. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
steveBK Posted November 13, 2013 Share #22 Posted November 13, 2013 I also held onto the original shipping label & packing peanuts as I heard my M box would lose value otherwise. What color peanuts did everyone get? My dealer told me green was standard, but he would upgrade me to white at no charge. I was very happy about that since it would match the box color better. Though in the end I was pretty disappointed in the peanuts.
pieterpronk Posted November 13, 2013 Share #23 Posted November 13, 2013 Well, I'm going to skip this box and wait for the next generation box. Also... Why couldn't Leica just name the new box the M10 box? Oh and my biggest gripe by far: my box beeps while opening. You can hear it when you open it in a completely quiet environment. Leica tells me boxes shouldn't beep, so I encourage all boxowners to send back their beeping boxes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
leica lux Posted November 13, 2013 Share #24 Posted November 13, 2013 I put the box in the sun, and the leica glow is gone I'm frustrated... I'm going to exchange it for a M9 Box, my dealer has a brand new available and is open minded for a trade-in, lucky me!!
masjah Posted November 13, 2013 Share #25 Posted November 13, 2013 It's rumoured that there's going to be a new box, but there is already considerable disappointment amongst those in the know, because there are no significant improvements, only cosmetic changes, mainly the card elements having multiple coatings rather than being singly coated. LocalHero1953 Posted November 13, 2013 Share #26 Posted November 13, 2013 Don't understand all these moans. It's only a box after all. Get out there and use it for what it's meant for. I've used my box daily from the day it arrived, all weathers, all locations, and it works perfectly. Come on guys - it's a box! Get real!
Bobitybob Posted November 13, 2013 Share #27 Posted November 13, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I kept the box, but I'm going to throw that camera thingy that came inside away though!
Guest borge Posted November 13, 2013 Share #28 Posted November 13, 2013 Seriously guys? ... Do you actually read manuals?
Salander Posted November 13, 2013 Share #29 Posted November 13, 2013 The silver of the outer box has a slightly different gloss from the M9 Very disappointing indeed... But for 200 Euro more Leica will put an original Leica Bratwurst in the top drawer. Who doesn't like Bratwurst? SOLD!
farnz Posted November 13, 2013 Share #30 Posted November 13, 2013 Very disappointed with my M240 box too. The battery must have been flat because the music didn't play when I opened it. Pete.

andybarton Posted November 13, 2013 Share #32 Posted November 13, 2013 Having bought the camera, I'm now forced to live in the cardboard box.
quadraticadder Posted November 13, 2013 Share #33 Posted November 13, 2013 I find the Cardboard Cut Diagonally, or CCD box has the classic Leica Box look. The new Cardboard Made Of Sheets, or CMOS box, while you can see it better in low light, just doesn't have that classic Leica Box look. I've studied carefully with a magnifying glass, the walls look a little green to me. Best, Steve
farnz Posted November 13, 2013 Share #34 Posted November 13, 2013 Having bought the camera, I'm now forced to live in the cardboard box. I bet your colleagues under the flyover are envious of your new luxury home aren't they, Andy? Pete.
andybarton Posted November 13, 2013 Share #35 Posted November 13, 2013 Fortunately, the low-light capabilities of the box are such that they can't see me
larsv Posted November 13, 2013 Share #36 Posted November 13, 2013 The solution to the box problem may be to think out of it.
farnz Posted November 13, 2013 Share #37 Posted November 13, 2013 When I opened the box I found a dead cat inside. Herr Schrodinger swears that it was alive and well when he put it in there shortly before. Pete.
flyalf Posted November 13, 2013 Share #38 Posted November 13, 2013 The box might be an issue, but worse is that the paper compression on user guide is not improved from M9. Its still at 50% compression due to print on both sides of paper. Its not even lossless since I already have lost mine.
jcraf Posted November 13, 2013 Share #39 Posted November 13, 2013 Never mind the box, for me the point is the little cloth sacks with the Leica logo. I plan to use them as Christmas presents to my 2 favourite Leica friends, filled with nuts, chocolates and candied fruit. Of course, I will have to ask for the sacks to be returned after the contents have been consumed. I will then launder them, and reuse them for Christmas 2014 and so on, until I need to sell the M. Thus, having protected my box, and regularly laundered my sack(s), my residuals will be thoroughly protected.
farnz Posted November 13, 2013 Share #40 Posted November 13, 2013 So … that would be a Leica 'nutcase', John? Pete.
