rickp13 Posted April 20, 2014 Share #142 Posted April 20, 2014 we were in turkey last week, in ankara visiting family (and practicing for the challenge later this year ). after the trip, i'm thinking that if the political capital of the country has such interesting faces and places to photograph, istanbul will probably cause some degree of sensory overload. the two gentlemen pictured are brothers, and run an antique and metalworking shop in ulus, once the center of ankara. they've divided the work nicely - one sits, directs and drinks strong turkish coffee; the other scrapes, sands, welds and polishes. greetings from hamburg rick & karen Welcome, dear visitor! Ritsuko and I have just booked into Albinas Hotel Old City which is just a few doors down on the same street (Kucukayasofya Mahallesi Mustafapasa Sokak). There are still 3 more deluxe rooms available and a few standard ones too. We've just booked at the same hotel. Check-in on the 9th and out on the Sunday. As we are only scheduled out of Istanbul on the 19th we're going to look for a tour. Since the website of the latter is in English only, I suspect there will be not much of a language barrier... If this starts the counter, I'm in, as every year.
