edwardkaraa Posted October 25, 2013 Share #1521 Posted October 25, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yeah, there is an inherent feeling of superiority when you buy an overpriced camera that few people can afford, and on the top of that, you're treated like sh*t by the manufacturer/distributor LOL I am finally realizing the new Sony camera is what brought me to Leica in the first place. FF, check. Small, check. High quality lenses, check. High IQ, check. Fast and responsive, check. Precise focusing: CDAF and image magnification, check. To be honest, I feel I will have no use for a Leica pretty soon.

But, the M240 is still the best in town, as I haven't shot with my A7R at all yet - so it's still producing great images every day (well, user restrictions apply of course), with wonderful colour now. That can certainly all change on November 19. As I said earlier. If it's easier to use (yes it's subjective) and produces equal or better images then I will produce more quality files to work with - and then there is no reason to stay with any of my Leica gear. But we'll see. It's not out yet.
wattsy Posted October 25, 2013 Share #1523 Posted October 25, 2013 What utter bollocks. Unless you believe that an overweight dentist with a Leica is inherently more emotional and sensitive than, say, Gilles Peress when he has an EOS to his eye. This is Leica forum conceit at its worst. Agreed, I can't bear that kind of tripe either. I was somewhat reluctant to mention my liking for direct manual controls in case I got lumped in with the more 'reactionary' and, dare I suggest, pretentious factions of this forum. biglou Posted October 25, 2013 Share #1524 Posted October 25, 2013 This reminds me the Olympus OM designed by Yoshihisa Maitani when it appeared. Same spirit i hope.
CheshireCat Posted October 25, 2013 Share #1525 Posted October 25, 2013 The video otput via HDMI cable from A7/A7R features an x.v. color space ( 1.8 times coverage of sRGB color space) and be compatible with SONY 4K2K Ultra HD TV Triluminos display's wide color gamut. A big plus for video presentaion. Nice ! I really hope there is a setting to switch off UI overlays on HDMI out to get clean recordable video. There's no fear of that happening because your posts ooze common sense. There's an immense difference between having a liking for a particular type of camera and the propensity that some have for claiming supernatural levels of superiority for all things Leica. MarkP Posted October 25, 2013 Share #1527 Posted October 25, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well I'm still waiting to see how my wide angle Leica and Zeiss lenses perform on the A7R because they certainly still perform well on the M9, Monochrom, and M240..... It is sold 2000$ higher than the advertised price, and you have to kiss a few behinds to get one. That is 14 months after the announcement and 7 months after the first deliveries. Calm down ... its only a camera. ... I feel ostracized, insecure, lacking grounding! I don't fit into one of The Two Types!I have cameras from both lists! It's just that, oh my, it's just that for me it's about the final image. Oh my goodness, what will happen to me now? I said it out loud - I've outed myself! Sorry to hear it. I ONLY had to wait 10 months for mine, and I live 1 hour away from Solms! Just over 3 weeks wait for the Sony..... (I know I know, "Leica are small" "can't expect them to keep up" "blah blah..." Not interested frankly. Thy compete on the same level in me wanting a small FF camera in my hand to shoot with right now - and they compete on the same level right here, in my wallet, and that's the final arbiter round here)

If I want to use my Leica lenses I'll put them on a Leica camera. I understand. I don't want another lens system if I can avoid it. I don't have, and don't wan't a DSLR system. However the A7R may be perfect for my R- and longer M-lenses. I have maintained my A7R order.
k-hawinkler Posted October 25, 2013 Share #1534 Posted October 25, 2013 So, the one WA lens I really would like to be able to use on the A7R is the WATE 16-18-21/4. It works very well on the NEX-5N and even the NEX-7. From a technical point of view the discussions on various forums have been very interesting to me as they put in focus the interactions of lens and sensor designs and their implications. Fascinating. It seems what we need are sensors with film like properties that work well with all great lenses.

colonel Posted October 25, 2013 Share #1537 Posted October 25, 2013 Indeed. There are two major types of photogrpahers : those for whom technical capability is always first : big Canon Nikon dslrs are for them as well as A7; those for whom emotions are always first : M, Digilux2, EP1, X100, Xpro Xe are for them. Sony should have realised this and designed the A7r accordingly. I was going to respond vigorously but then saw others had done their job for me I do see you have never used a RX1® then - its pretty emotional
