Avatar Posted October 3, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just thought I'd post this before deciding what to do...As organized as I am about my gear, somehow I misplaced or lost my charger and an extra battery for my X2. It's doubtful it's lost but I can't look anymore right now. I have one Leica battery in the camera and have a feeling the charger and battery will turn up but I do need to use it now. Are any of these cheap 3rd party chargers and batteries usable or even decent? Thanks for reading! (hate this..would rather know I lost it!)
Advertisement Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Hi Avatar, Take a look here Argh..misplaced or lost charger.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
saibaiwei Posted October 4, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 4, 2013 Sorry to hear that! 3rd party batteries have been given to me before and I've used them in my previous X1, it was fine in usage and did not cause any problems while I used them. However, I gave them away and bought a few of the original Leica batteries just so I know I will not worry about anything when I use them in my Xs. Hope you do find your batteries and the charger! Avatar Posted October 4, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted October 4, 2013 Thanks for the post. I'm less worried about the battery than the charger. And they are just so cheap, it's worth ordering one just to see how it works. If I was sure I lost the Leica battery and charger, I wouldn't bother with this.. So cheap it's hard to believe...expectations are low..
earleygallery Posted October 4, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 4, 2013 I lost the charger for my Canon DSLR a while back. Eventually gave up looking and bought a new one, when as if by magic my old one reappeared! Apparently if you say out loud what you're looking for while you're looking for it, you are more likely to find it. I read that tip somewhere, not sure how effective it is but worth a try! stuny Posted October 4, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 4, 2013 Years ago I bought a third party, cheap, much smaller charger for my D2 so that it would reduce what I carry on trips. It has been working well for several years. It's probably safe to risk a small amount on a cheap charger. Regarding batteries, I supplemented my Leica batteries with third party ones (for the D2) with the same spacs but a higer amp hour rating. They've been fine. dkCambridgeshire Posted October 5, 2013 Share #6 Posted October 5, 2013 I bought a third party universal charger from an offshore online retailer - a charger with adjustable contact pins which fits any battery. It failed to work properly and was replaced by the retailer - but the replacement failed to work properly too - so it was binned. The point I'm trying to make is ... beware of cheap chargers. Third party chargers do work but make sure you buy from a reputable high street dealer. dunk

I am sure it is of the finest quality..haha At this point it's worth the $10 just for a laugh. Expectations are as low as could be which is a good place to start. Considering my investment in the Monochrome, lenses, OM-D, X2 not to mention my Canon gear, it's all pretty ridiculous...I just can't imagine I lost the X2 extra battery and charger.. And yes, I've walked around my apartment speaking to it to coax it out of it's hiding place. Easily worth $200 not to have spent the time and aggravation looking! I'll post when the one from China arrives!
dkCambridgeshire Posted October 5, 2013 Share #8 Posted October 5, 2013 Maybe one likely place to start retracing your charger's movements is the power point last time you used it. Maybe it's in your camera bag? dunk

Avatar Posted October 18, 2013 Author Share #10 Posted October 18, 2013 Got the charger and battery that I ordered for around $12.. Seems to work fine.. I really spent a bad two hours looking before I thought of ordering new ones. I have many bags and checked and rechecked them all carefully several times. Funny (not) how annoying it can be to misplace or lose stuff but at least I have a charger and extra battery so I don't have to keep looking as it reaches a point of diminishing returns quite quickly! wda Posted October 25, 2013 Share #11 Posted October 25, 2013 You haven't stayed in a hotel or friend's bedroom overnight, have you? Despite rigorous packing checks, I have managed to do that in the past. But I retrieved as soon as I realised my mistake.

I racked my brain and even opened my boxed M8 and MM and even Canon boxes to see if somehow it made it's way into their boxes! I do have one original Leica battery and the new charger/battery is the best $6 I ever spent..lol
jaapv Posted November 23, 2013 Share #13 Posted November 23, 2013 According to Dunne’s theory of parallel time you did not simply leave it somewhere in the room, you left it in a future time -which was active in that spot by some glitch- as well. As soon as you reach that future time it will reappear in the place where you left it.
