mmayer Posted September 26, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 26, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there, I finally did it and ordered a used M9 with a 50mm F2 Summicron. It should all be there in a few days... :-) Now I'm wondering about the memory-card issues. I've done some research but the threads and blogs etc. about this topic seem endless. So I hope you can help me here with a final conclusion regarding this. Which firmware + memory-card (16 GB) combination is known to work best. For me reliability is most important, speed second place since I usually don't "burst" (but of course it wouldn't hurt). Thank you! Marco

Stealth3kpl Posted September 26, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 26, 2013 I've had no problems with previous firmware (1.176?) and Lexar 8gb. I only use discrete/ soft, and don't review images whilst the camera is processing though. Pete

My firmware is what was factory set Sept 2012. Think it is current. Discrete is nice, but you screw up camera if you go continuous in error. Also it does not allow you to hold shutter part way to lock exposure and recompose. Sandisk are also good if you buy from a trusted source like B&H. They are frequently counterfeit. Do not move cards from one camera to another. Reformat and do not erase. Lexar comes in two packs so I get a pair for each new camera.
k-hawinkler Posted September 26, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 26, 2013 With the Panasonic Gold card I would recommend Firmware version 1.162 (fast) or 1.196 (latest but slow). If you search the forum for Panasonic Gold you will get lots of feedback.
