Exodies Posted April 20, 2014 Share #201 Posted April 20, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I never really understand how useful these threads are here. What Is the person who passes on the comments from a reviewer going to get from the thread? Are they trying to convince themselves to buy Leica..or not buy Leica? Or do Leica users get convinced to switch Of course you can make great photos with all manner of cameras and different systems have different strengths. If some photographers choose to use Sony or the excellent Fujifim cameras or their phone or anything else, good luck to them. I don't follow why they want to convince others here though Messages from random strangers on the internet are exchanges of opinion. In some cases this will help us to understand our own opinions better. What you read in forums is fiction, not fact. For example, if these were facts we'd be in a very confusing universe: Re: Anyone figure out why the 240 freezes up? No. Mine never did. Yeah - heat + EVF freezes - I’ve had those . It had to be VERY hot. Disabling auto-switchoff seemed to cure them And as it's fiction, anything goes.
Advertisement Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Hi Exodies, Take a look here Leica M240 and lux 35/1.4 really outperformed by Sony RX1R?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted April 20, 2014 Share #202 Posted April 20, 2014 It's just that you don't see the basic distinction between M240 and M240+EVF i guess . Seriously i've never got the least camera freezing with the M240 so far but the EVF is but a modern Visoflex for me and i don't use it more than 10% of the time roughly. Normal usage in temperate climates seems to produce an occasional lockup with some cameras (SD cards?) Using the camera at its top-end of temperature specifications with an EVF and auto-shutoff produces a lockup after one shot, reproducibly. This is a high temperature safety kicking in too early, most likely.
algrove Posted April 20, 2014 Share #204 Posted April 20, 2014 I am going to go out and buy all other camera brands in hopes my images get better.
tundraline Posted April 20, 2014 Share #205 Posted April 20, 2014 My M240 froze up on me once -- at about -10 C. Problem solved by taking the battery and putting it back in.
bephoto Posted April 20, 2014 Share #206 Posted April 20, 2014 Mr. Lloyd has repeatedly made clear by his own admission that he is unable to focus a rangefinder properly, a basic photographic skill that most if not all posters in this forum have mastered. I think this is a bit exaggerated by some reviewers that make some occult esoteric knowledge out of rangefinder focusing. I think they use this fallacy to add negative points when ever a leica is in question. lend a leica to a non photographer they can nail focus first time. comparing a compact fix lens camera to open system is as stupid as comparing a view camera to a DSLR. btw 35mm f/1.4 vs 35mm f/
