Chris101-MM Posted September 5, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Im now a man without a common-law spouse since two weeks back, so I've been kinda busy on the not so fun side of life. I'm apparently married to my Job and my Monochrom... No kidding, thats what she said... We have been together for 4,5 years and i started shooting when i was 2 years old... so its not like its a new interest of mine... but apparently it has changed enough since i swapped... She never complained about my photography before, but now apparently the new little black devil was the drop... I said something like "Well, If your gonna make me choose you lose"... and well... I now live happily with my Monochrom.. So the conclusion is... DON'T buy in to a Leica obsession if your spouse is feeling a little left out already... just don't! Advertisement Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Hi Chris101-MM, Take a look here Where the Monochrom is NOT good for you!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
huckles Posted September 5, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 5, 2013 That's not good to hear.. If only everything in life wasn't so 'black + white'.. jokes aside, I really hope it wasn't as simple as you say... all the best. Van.
mark_j Posted September 5, 2013 Share #3 Posted September 5, 2013 That is a very sad story and I am genuinely sorry for you. As a fellow Monochrom owner married for quite some time there is no doubt which I would choose in the same situation. However just think of the positives: - you don't have to remember M's birthday. - you don't have to buy M flowers. - you don't have to say "no darling, your bum doesn't look big in that Luigi half-case". - after a heavy shooting session (and whilst enjoying your post shoot cigarette) you don't have to tell M how amazing they are and how you would never go out shooting with anyone else. - you can have the odd fling with C or N and M need never know. - and finally if you ever decide it's the end you can get a quickie divorce at any Leica dealer, no need to wait for two years until you can step out with Miss 240 (deliveries notwithstanding). Anyway, I really hope things work out for you.
Guest tanks Posted September 5, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 5, 2013 As my ex-wives can attest, women are a renewable resource, and can be upgraded to a newer model as needed.. That being said, 4-5 years might be a little to soon to part. Next time might be a good idea to incorporate her into you hobbies (and vice versa). jaapv Posted September 5, 2013 Share #6 Posted September 5, 2013 Look at the bright sides: 1. You have a low-cost period to stock up against future GAS-attacks. 2. You can now make your choice from young ladies that carry pro-level and/or classic cameras. 3. You can skip meals and get out whenever you want to take pictures (job permitting) 4. You finally have time for postprocessing.

Guido Posted September 5, 2013 Share #8 Posted September 5, 2013 Sorry to hear about your story. Photography, a job, and a wife don't go together. Pick two.

With his MM he could take his own pics! funny that we jest, as humor, even in awful situations is always useful.

enboe Posted September 6, 2013 Share #12 Posted September 6, 2013 Why hasn't anyone made the connection, the Monochrom would be perfect for a "50 Shades of Gray" project.
adrian01 Posted September 6, 2013 Share #13 Posted September 6, 2013 oh very sorry to hear that.. I just got my MM last month, I hope it won't happen to me too. Have a nice new life, dude!
luigi bertolotti Posted September 6, 2013 Share #14 Posted September 6, 2013 Sad, or maybe just troubling story... but , at least, you have the perspective of starting a different life, which can be always a challenging/exciting situation. In my experience, if your wife has towards photo gear the same interest that (for instance) I have towards old coins (<0), a good strategy to avoid jealousy is to show that YOUR jealousy for YOUR Leica doesn't not prevent you from giving it to a son/daughter.. time to time, with care and not far from you... sblitz Posted September 6, 2013 Share #17 Posted September 6, 2013 I think Jaapv has it right. OTOH, over the long term having a healthy diversion away from your significant other is probably healthier than not. Old story about a long-time baseball coach who retired and then after a year went back to baseball. When asked why he returned he said "My wife says she married me for better or worse not for lunch every day" .... Good luck on your coming adventure. You finally have time for postprocessing. ... this story has made me conscious that, maybe for pure chance (), the evenings that I make PP are OFTEN the evenings in which there is the famed "Desperate Housewives" on TV... ... two solids doors between me in front of PC and all the women in front of that indecent top-trash...
