Really ..... let's not ........ I just paid a lot of money for a brand new Leica battery in sealed box which was absolutely faulty. No new replacement available where I am at the moment, and nobody seems to know when one will be available. For me, another failure of a brand new Leica product ............. I had put a freshly charged battery in the camera 72 hours earlier but did not check it this morning - no need to, right? Wrong! Got out of work, battery drained! Not sure if the shutter had been off or on but no way any of the buttons or shutter were accidentally held down during the day. This would never have happened with the M9 or Monochrom. A similar thing happened to me in the first or second week with my new M ... but never again since then. I figured my setting for auto-power of is not working well as Infigured that everytime it happened, the main switch had moved from off to on (single) in the camera bag. I suspected that in the bag the shutter button was pressed repeatedly or constantly half way so the battery drains. However it could be related to something else as well. I plan to charge and allow to discharge a few times before travelling with it. On the plus side, the M 240 appears to be an extremely fine camera. Suffice it to forget to switch the camera off for that. Disabling the sleep mode is the only way to get short startup and wakeup times though so far. Five batteries will buy the whole camera including a battery... If Leica offends, they are not the sole offender. I got a third party one at 9.90 Euro too - works just as eel.... Actually it's intermittent, because sometimes it works fine and turns the camera off as it's supposed to do, and sometimes it fails to shut the camera down and the battery continues to drain. All the best, Jörg Hi everybody, It seems my iPad played some tricks onme when I was typing. Therefore I have to correct the above. The auto-power off on my camera is always set to 2 minutes, that way the above said about the battery drain makes more sense. Now, since one week I do have two batteries and can go to India for a couple of days with less worries. And whatever will eventually be solved in future firmwares worries me less. There is no way that any of the switches were accidentally pressed for an extended period of time. The battery was probably only charged once or twice so I'll watch out for it again. Hello ICT Are you saying that if I leave the camera on but set to power off after two minutes, the battery will drain in about 15 hours (10% per hour)? That seems unreasonable.
