farnz Posted September 2, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) . This is a crop from a picture of two interesting gents on the street in Brighton. I'm happy to show the full picture if asked but I found the expression emanating from this man's portrait irresistible. I tried a number of black and white conversions but eventually found more power in his steely gaze in the colour version. Thank you for taking the time to look and, as always, I welcome your comments. 80 f/1.4 Summilux-R wide open with Leica M. Pete. Welcome, dear visitor! farnz Posted September 3, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted September 3, 2013 SS Familia says a great deal !!! ... Ivan, Out of curiosity I looked up SS Familia thinking that there might be something intriguing but it turns out to be a tattoo parlour in Hove near Brighton called Sideshow Familia and the man is a tattooist called Mike. Gibbo Posted September 3, 2013 Share #12 Posted September 3, 2013 Pete, You have a knack of approaching people that most of us would be very wary of and as a result, get photos that make us envious. Well done!

farnz Posted September 3, 2013 Author Share #15 Posted September 3, 2013 Karl, George, Stuart, Ece, Tri, Robert, Bill, Ivan, Hank, Dave, and Vasken, thank you so much for making the time and effort to leave such generous comments! Ivan, I will post a black and white conversion presently - I have produced one that I like and that I think compliments the subject. Dave, I hope I never lose my nerve to approach such people or my drive to capture in a picture the essence of people who interest me. Vasken, <blushing> cor! Hank, haha, I think your good lady wife might be on to something <grin>. All, I expect that the tattoos were very painful but it's nice to think that a tattoo artist is familiar with the pain his art (craft?) is inflicting on his customers. I've decided to also post the full picture so that you can see the interesting contrast between this man and his friend who I also thought was an interesting subject. Pete. IkarusJohn Posted September 4, 2013 Share #20 Posted September 4, 2013 I actually prefer the full picture, with both characters. It provides better balance and contrast. Cheers John
