Dennis Laney says that the black Elmar-M 50mm, f2.8 has a '...light weight black plastic mount' pg. 229 of Leica Collectors Guide 2nd Edition. Is this the reason it is so light? I guess we can't find out where he acquired that information from but it would not be the first time that a plastic mount was used. I had a Summicron 35mm v4 from 1980 Serial number 3,062,xxx with tiger claw that the repair person said had a polycarbonate plastic mount which tended to jam and strip. She told me that was the reason that it losened up on me. Can anyone clarify on this?

I don't see any plastic except the tiny red dot

Hi

Have both the last 50 2,8 and the 35 cron IV and defenitely no plastic " on the outside" except the red dot. Concerning the 35cron IV, however,, do believe that your repair person might mix this up with the info I have heard about one internal part in this lens being made of polyc... and this part seems to have caused some problems... Me myself having no problems... and there seems to be thousands of fans of this lens still out there...

If I only could find the article I read once, I would have been more specific...
