M6 TTL .85 top cover engraving

Hi All,

 

I have recently managed to but an M6 TTL .85 in almost new condition for a good price, it has a top engraving that I have not seen on the TTL black before.

 

Can anyone give me any info on this please. Leica (in script) the Leica Camera AG made in Germany. all on top plate.

 

I am attaching a photo for you to see.

Could be a M6TTL for the japanese market. As far as I know, they had those engravings (not sure if also on black models though). Another possibility is that the previous owner had it modified that way. If you ask Leica nicely, they do such things... (I had my black chrome M7 modified this way).
