Advertisement Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Hi lct, Take a look here Leica 50mm M 2.8 Elmar. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
UliWer Posted August 14, 2013 Share #22 Posted August 14, 2013 The M6J-version of the 50mm Elmar-M had the mount of the older 2.8/5cm Elmar. This older 2.8/5cm lens had the "old" optical design of the classical Elmar opened half an f-stop. Its contrast and resolution, especially when fully opened, is far behind the new design for the M6-J-version and the Elmar M. So the M6J-version is the combination of the better mount of the old version and the better lenses of the new one. Since it was only delivered together with the cameras it is very rare and almost never found alone.
lct Posted August 14, 2013 Share #23 Posted August 14, 2013 The M6J-version of the 50mm Elmar-M had the mount of the older 2.8/5cm Elmar.... The M6J version has not the same mount as the first one AFAIK, at least my 11612 from 1962. The mount does not turn when focussing contrary to the latter's. woorob Posted August 16, 2013 Share #24 Posted August 16, 2013 I have both the 50 2.8 and 90 4.0 collapsibles. The 50, which I bought new about 8-10 years ago, has always been a tight and perfect fit once extended. The 90 [chrome finish], which I bought recently in used but absolutely pristine condition, never "tightened" as well when extended, and exhibited the sort of issues the OP noted. So I sent it to Don Goldberg for adjustment. It came back today, perfect in its extended operation, although he noted on the repair slip that there isn't really any adjustment per se for this.
