Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 2, 2013 Share #41 Posted August 2, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Oh don't get me wrong, I'm very impressed with it and will consider a black one for my M240 when it arrives. But I really don't want a case secured by a baseplate screw. Regards, Mark It's not like that The case attaches to the camera body by the pop fastener on each side the same way as theLuigi does the tripod screws into the case period the tripod screw doesn't touch the camera body
Advertisement Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Hi Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS, Take a look here My new case just arrived. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 2, 2013 Share #42 Posted August 2, 2013 For me a half case needs to do two very important things. One, it needs to provide a superior grip, and two, it needs to cover, protect and hide the rear LCD and buttons. IMHO this design does neither very well. It is true they are very well made (I had a look at one in Hong Kong) but for me the Luigi Harmony case is superior in functionality and aesthetics. Each to there own I to had aLuigi on my m9p and it was great I just like the arte di mona better now that I have see it

To me this does not seem like an ideal arrangement. Sorry if I misunderstand the position!

To me this does not seem like an ideal arrangement. Sorry if I misunderstand the position! Hi John Sorry but I'm on a Oil Rig in Nigeria right now. When I get home in 3weeks time I will attach it to the case so that you can see it, but looking at the case and knowing how I will be attaching it to the tripod I am confident that it will be strong enough for the job as long as you don't screw a 70/200 lens into the body

You can stick a band aid on it..........better still when you order it tell them you don't want it to come with the tripod mount
StephenPatterson Posted August 2, 2013 Share #48 Posted August 2, 2013 You can stick a band aid on it..........better still when you order it tell them you don't want it to come with the tripod mount Why would you order this? With a very expensive M240 and presumably not inexpensive M mount lens at risk why would you even consider for a moment mounting your camera via a leather half case with "built in" tripod socket when you don't know how the two are attached and likely have no specs from the manufacturer as to what the load bearing weight is? I understand your comment "OK as long as you don't mount a 70-200" and I get that you are saying this somewhat tongue in cheek, but I am shaking my head wondering why you would ever contemplate taking the risk in the first place with any lens attached? ymc226 Posted August 2, 2013 Share #49 Posted August 2, 2013 I feel the same way as Neil. I like the Luigi cases and have 3 of them with the attached LCD protectors but found that I frequently inadvertently pressed buttons on the back through the back flap just by grabbing the camera while dangling on my neck and going to a shooting position. At times, I realized my settings changed from these occurrences. Just received 3 cases from Arte di Mano. The fit and finish of the Arte di Mano cases are a cut above the ones from Luigi. I don't worry much about the LCD as the M9P and MM both have sapphire crystal and I can get a clear protector for the M240 if I so choose. Now, I'm more cognizant about avoiding the buttons on the back. I wouldn't bother using the tripod attachment on the cases. Use a RRS base with L bracket instead to give a much more robust attachment to your tripod.

Do you have the case, have you touched the case, do you know anything at all about what you are blabbering on about????? I ordered the case because Leica Miami recommends this case over all other cases, I like it I am glad I bought it and if for any reason when I mount it on my tripod and the body and Noctilux fall off and smash into the concrete floor and break into smithereens that will be my issue not yours………..so thanks for the questions but please stop ranting on about something you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Thank you Sir

Bill W Posted August 2, 2013 Share #55 Posted August 2, 2013 The mount in the case is no way near stable enough for a tripod. So I figured I'd use it for something else - mount for a handstrap using an old Luigi strap and a Camstrap adapter. I like this idea. Looks great and useful. Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 2, 2013 Share #56 Posted August 2, 2013 What is a tripod? A tripod is a portable three-legged frame, used as a platform for supporting the weight and maintaining the stability of some other object. A tripod provides stability against downward forces and horizontal forces and movements about horizontal axes. The positioning of the three feet away from the vertical centre allows the tripod better leverage for resisting lateral forces. Tripods are used for both motion and still photography to prevent camera movement and provide stability. They are especially necessary when slow-speed exposures are being made, or when telephoto lenses are used, as any camera movement while the shutter is open will produce a blurred image. In the same vein, they reduce camera shake, and thus are instrumental in achieving maximum sharpness. A tripod is also helpful in achieving precise framing of the image, or when more than one image is being made of the same scene, for example when bracketing the exposure. Use of a tripod may also allow for a more thoughtful approach to photography. For all of these reasons, a tripod of some sort is often necessary for professional photography. In relation to film/video, use of the tripod offers stability within a shot as well as certain desired heights. The use of a tripod within film/video is often a creative choice of the Director. For maximum strength and stability, as well as for easy levelling, most photographic tripods are braced around a centre vertical post, with collapsible telescopic legs. To further allow extension, the centre post can usually extend above the meeting of three legs. At the top of the tripod is the head, which includes the camera mount (usually a detachable plate with a thumbscrew to hold the camera). The head connects to the frame by several joints, allowing the camera to pan, tilt and roll. The head usually attaches to a lever so that adjustments to the orientation can be performed more delicately. Some tripods also feature integrated remote controls for a camera, though these are usually proprietary to the company that made the camera. I hope this helps buddy

Yes, actually I have held the case, examined it first hand and decided I didn't care for it. When the tripod mount rips from the bottom of the case I suggest you send the repair bill to Arte di Mano or Leica Miami and see how quickly you receive a check. Enough blabbering.
