sticboy Posted July 3, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 3, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've always been a fan of the look of MPs and although I've owned Leicas with red badges, I always felt the design of the Leica is so iconic that the blaring red badge didn't need to be so prominent. With my new silver M240 coming in within the next few days and I've been thinking about removing the paint within the M as well as popping the badge off, soaking it in acetone and reapplying it as a plain silver metal badge for a slightly more discreet look. Opinions? Has anyone rebadged a leica? i believe it's just 3M adhesive holding it on? Large sized Image: I was also wondering if any of you guys have used any of these milled aluminum hotshoe covers: de camera? - I have a few black ones from popflash that look pretty sweet on my M9P, but since I'm going silver these are the only ones i've found. sticboy Posted July 3, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted July 3, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm not buying to sell, although it's nice that they retain a lot of value over time , the goal of getting a leica for me personally is to shoot with it, and offers me the robustness, design, engineering and level of finish that I want to enjoy and use; kind of like a nice pair of brogues or leather seats. No fun if you cover everything in plastic. That being said, I feel I take pretty good care of my equipment, while putting some personal touches to things, sometimes selling for more later because of that personal touch wether it be cameras, watches that i've milled some custom parts for. You may even find the residual adhesive patch on the camera is adequate for you to reapply the badge later. ps. I'll be doing the same to my silver M240 (if it ever arrives), but all of my lenses are black. You can tell that by removing the frame illumination window, the designers were faced with a negative space challenge. The tried filling in the gap by making that red dot even bigger and moving it over. I was very much put off by their efforts, but you solved this problem quite well!
