My M-P (240) has been utterly flawless.

There is a sense of 'completeness' and security with this camera that I have never had before in close to fifty years of photography. The only thing that's been close was my Nikon F2 Photomic in the seventies... that felt solid and utterly reliable too.

My only regret is I didnt buy an M4 back then... I would probably still have it now. Just think of the places it would have travelled to and the things it would have seen... :)

This is a survey question for anyone who actually owns the M Typ 240. It is a simple question. Please Answer YES or NO only. There is another thread for discussion. It is the current thread about a blogger that got a camera he judged as unreliable. I'm just curious about a broder sample than just one camera copy. Please update the tally as you post.

Do you rate your M Typ 240 as Reliable? Simple as that. Feel free to fairly apply your own definition of reliable when you answer either Yes or No.

Thank you.

It has been through some rather demanding use over the last three years, including rough travel through arid areas in the tropics and blizzards at minus 15 centigrade on skiing trips. Yes - it is reliable.

Having said that, when out shooting no camera in the world is reliable enough to make a backup superfluous.

To date: 6000 exposures on M-P typ 240 purchased in March, 2015.

I've filed three bug reports (all to do with the GPS options and firmware).

No freezes or lock ups, no other problems.

Has it been reliable? Yes.

11 months of use. I will have to find shutter count but it will be upward of 3000.

Only one lockup in the beginning while using EVF. I am not a heavy user of EVF/LV but do use it time to time. No issues since then.

BTW, once taking video I forgot to press stop and the red light stayed on. I thought camera had locked up and pulled the battery out after a minute of cursing (which was getting recorded) and waiting. Only later when I played the video till the end, I noticed what happened. :)

A satisfied customer? Yes.

Yes

Now with firmware 2025 it has been faultless (the firmware was available when I bought the camera I didn't realise), and I shoot just about every day often up to 800 or so shots per day depending on the shoot. I now have a second body on order

No offence meant, but what do you shoot 800 shots of in a day?

Just curious.

Perhaps being a pro leads to way more coverage than what an old retired guy does :)
