amusong Posted June 23, 2013 Share #21 Posted June 23, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I also had an M9 sensor failure, camera bought new. You might like to check out my post on this. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/2332351-post1.html The end of the tale is that, although the camera is out of warranty, Leica have agreed to replace the sensor free of charge. I guess it is not a good look for them but they have done the right thing willingly. The repair has taken a long time, but I expect to see the camera back next week. Guest borge Posted June 23, 2013 Share #22 Posted June 23, 2013 As a working and professional photographer you are probably aware of the fact that you absolutely need a backup camera. This can happen to any camera, any time, any where, even in the middle of an assignment. Purchasing a used camera without any warranty and no backup AND planning to use it for work (including trips/assignments) is just asking for trouble. I hope it sorts itself out though. And I also hope that you get a backup camera as soon as possible. Leica cameras need more frequent service than DSLR's for example. Rangefinder calibration and sensor issues are not rare. DWatts Posted June 23, 2013 Share #23 Posted June 23, 2013 Not so. The Guarantee on my M8 expired 28th December 2012, just 2 years and 4 months old and they said that the screen could not be replaced. Pay £2800 and we will sell you a refurbished (second hand) M9. 55 years with Leica - now moving back to Japanese.. Hope you have better luck. D. jaapv Posted June 23, 2013 Share #24 Posted June 23, 2013 The LCD situation on some M8s has been discussed ad nauseam, and has nothing to do with this sensor failure. I wish somebody would offer me a factory refurb M9 @ 2800 GBP I could make quite a nice profit on eBay...
