A little bit of brightness on this grey, miserable afternoon in Central Alberta. The macro on the X-Vario is quite nice.

They're back. You might remember some of these from last summer. These are the latest blooms and the XV loves them and will be busy with them in the coming days.

This is a straight out of camera jpeg, no processing other than resizing.

did you set VIVID? It is too colorful. Next time better with standard?

Tom, I think most people expect flowers and greenery to appear natural. I am wondering whether you had any special reason for portraying this scene in over-saturated colours?

Thanks for comments David and LEYVA- my posting did cause me a restless night of sleep, as I looked at it on my iPad just before turning in, and was shocked at how much different it appears than on my desktop monitor; and reviewing it again this morning, I agree 100%, it is way oversaturated. Indeed the camera setting is on vivid. Not sure if it can be deleted or if worthy of reposting when processed from a raw file. Again, thanks for comments and looking.

Tom,

I definitely think it is worthy of a re-post. or if they still look good, a re-shoot in "Natural". And with regard to "they're back" it is worth noting that while they are not masked they show reasonable spacing/distance!

Summer Rain (we've had plenty this season) definitely enhances color and the Autumn Moon Maple here is showing more than it has in years past. This set from DNG, had minimal processing with saturation held back.

A Peoni in our front yard. I love the delicate colouring of the petals and the contrasting red.

Spent some more time with the Tiger Lilies, just at their peak. All the buds have opened and some are turning. Experimenting with point of view, backdrop, isolation.

from the jpeg standard settings, iso 200  f/6.4   1/25  -.03  daylight

Tom, your chosen angle reveals a lot of detail.  Lovely realistic colours.

Thank you David. It was a good session, with some overall views like my previous posts, isolating individuals and playing with bokeh, and some fill flash in some.

X Vario 18mm / 28mm FF equivalent set to 'Auto everything' ... camera chose ISO 100, 1/400 f5.6 ... A DNG file processed in PS Elements with corrected verticals. The reduced traffic volumes during the Covid emergency and school's summer holiday enable clearer views of the buildings.
