How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2480 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “c

thought it might be of interest to show a 100% crop from the Osprey image I posted the other day.

XV through a Leica scope, file converted in Capture One, post proc in PS, cropped for sharing here. I'm always amazed at the difference of full resolution images before conversion to jpeg. My personal preference and discipline is not to crop images, attempt to frame what I want at the time of shutter release, and make subtle adjustments in post proc.

I came upon this lovely beach just west and north (one of the barrier beaches) of the famous Jones Beach, the rocks along this shore consist mostly of broken concrete.

 I stumbled yesterday on this nice nice exhibit of work by Kathleen Elliot. The first one here entitled "Offerings" is  related to what she calls Botanicals.  Elliot creates works (here in in glass and wood) and presented formally but not without a quality of enchantment, dealing with man's connection to nature, plants and food. With some political implications, the last offering is the second image here, a gloved hand from what might be Elizabethan era, offering two silver jewel-like acorns.

The show is at C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University at the Steinberg Gallery.
