thighslapper Posted June 2, 2013 Author Share #8 Â Posted June 2, 2013 Really beautiful dog. What is the breed? Â Flat Coated Retriever. Â They were a very popular gun dog till WW1 and death duties put paid to most of the wealthy huntin' and shootin' folk..... and since then they declined very rapidly in popularity and were overtaken by labradors and golden retrievers. Not a common sight in the UK ...... If I see a few a year on my travels then I'm surprised. Â A great shame really as they are handsome dogs with a permanently glossy coat and a very sunny temperament.... and unlike labs they are always skinny and just don't overeat. Easy to train and very loyal. Not barkers like some other breeds either. I've had plenty of dogs over the years and wouldn't have any other in future..... Hank Taylor Posted June 4, 2013 Share #9 Â Posted June 4, 2013 Beautiful dog, when I first was trying to down load his picture it was taking a little longer then I expected. Saw Sammy before seeing his toy rat. I was expecting to see a real one! Hank
