I totally agree with your your assessment, a film with a unique look and nice to have in the fridge (or camera). I still have to fully grasp in which circumstances it is best used; which rules to apply. As a first approach I look for strong compositions as in B&W photography, no fine details should be important as they get drowned in grain, open up the aperture to get lots of unsharp background and look for soft light to avoid over/underexposure.

This sounds like a very good way to go. I plan to try some next time I go to some rural area in Vietnam as well as for some close up portraits next. In the mean time, I loaded the camera with another roll of NC500...

Thanks a lot for your nice comment on the b&w photo as well.

Louvres (brise-soleil), on Oscar Niemeyer's Brasilia Palace Hotel. Having/had a lot of trouble digitising and processing this particular roll of film. Firstly, the Ilford Rapid Fixer has expired. Mixing a fresh batch, the solution became milky on the addition of water (will decant the concentrate into small bottles after opening next time). Also, Kentmere 100 is probably not the best of films. Has been hard to get much contrast. All the shots were a bit underexposed (no idea of the age of the film or perhaps my Lunalite is playing up) and I don't think Kentmere offers much in the way of latitude on exposure. The details: Brasília Palace Hotel. Contax IIa, Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 5cm 1:2 collapsible, Kentmere 100, PMK 1:2:100 7'30" 24°C.

This photo still came out very nicely! Hope you managed to save the rest similarly!

I gave Santa RAE 1000 another go, this time being a bit more cautious when metering and reducing the development time. Starting to look good. Still very contrasty but with nice grain and a very old school look.

Ready to fly...

The banana phone cracks me up. Hasselblad 501cm, Gold 200. These were like at 1/60 without mirror lockup, so a little blurry but I still like them.

What a tragic loss, yet we are blessed with the enduring trace of his gifted landscape portraits on the Leica User Forum. He was truly an adventurous artist with a keen sense of humor.
