Rog, great to see how your work profits from the longer focus of the Tele-Rollei. Gives the "Bystanders" I and II  a pronounced depth and a poetic  airiness.

Reini, you found a nice perspective. From a bridge ? And unexpected colors from a KG Gold. More like Portra... Did you develop the film  yourself?

Hello Kl@usW! Yes, from a bridge. No, I've never developed paint myself. Here something edited with LR.

apparently, you're not the only one with bad xtol:

But I really like it! (the photograph, I mean....)

Thank you for your appreciation. And for the link concerning the XTOL. I'm now a bit irritated--was my experience an outlier or is this "normal" XTOL behavior ? The links seems to suggest so... Ok, there are more fish in the sea..

Thomas, very  nice and very MF adequate picture. It took me a second or two to find out what irritated my perception: First the optical illusion of the converging lines to the left, suggesting your  frame is not rectangular... and then of course: the structure of the wall, the slabs are not real--they are painted.... but we are in Bavaria here, and they like to do this to walls... Wangen, btw. seems to be a yielding place for a photo walk. Or better:  it´s your eye that deserves the credits.    I was there once, a couple of years ago, to take photos of the regional variety of the carnival procession... very strange, kind of pagan ceremony...

Hello Kl@usW, thank you for the description of the effect of the image on you. And yes, Wangen is always worth a visit and I can recommend it to each of you.

I would have to say that your photos of the 70s capture the, holistically, the general spirit of that time better than any others I have seen. If they were compiled in a single volume they would be the best representation of "mankind in the 70s" available to persons interested in a visual representation of same. At the time, in my opinion, you were one of the best photographers, of this type, walking around on the planet.

Thanks for taking the time to share.

Best,

Wayne

Klaus--I've come across bad batches of other developers, too. IIRC, Kodak (whoever that really is now) had to recall HC110 a couple of summers ago. And, of course, there are bad batches of film, too.

Thank you so much Wayne for your encouraging words. Exaggerated in extreme of course but very kind and so appreciated.  :))

I like the whole series, Pyrogallol. This one is my favorite. Not only photographically, but for the inherent pun: the man with the scythe, sharpening the instrument, on the graveyard...

I´ve put the 5 liter container to the toxic waste, maybe I'll give it another try another time.. taking into account the widespread use and acclamation of the Xtol it can't be that bad..or can it ?

Expired C41 Chemistry, stand developed. Kodak Vericolor III (expired 1990) shot at ISO 3, Rolleiflex Original Model, 4.5 Tessar.

As far as I know, this film was not refrigerated. At least seller provided no assurance it had been.

I want to dispose of the chemistry, but just can't bring myself to do it. :)
