Flight with the JU-52 over Frankfurt (2/2) in 2003.

Today it is no longer possible to do this because Lufthansa has stopped the historical flights with that airplane.

I've been up in one of the Lufthansa historic flight Ju52s several times from Goodwood. A shame if they are no longer going up - absolutely fascinating to see the flight engineer having the trim the fuel load so vigorously and so often. On the last flight from there we were flying over the undefended Royal Dockyard at Portsmouth, when suddenly over the intercom the pilot announced they were heading back to base rapidly as there was flight of Spitfires close by! There was too.

I also recall driving on the A5 north of Frankfurt as one of the Ju52s used it to aim at the airport. Given my speed I had a good 5 minute viewing of the plane.

Thanks for the photos!

Yeah - what a shame. I first wonder how this pictures could have been taken in 2020. Really a sad story. Was a fascinating experience.

Here some from the D-AQUI at Berlin-Tempelhof:

Sinar F, 4x5", 58 mm, Portra 400 NC

The date is editing date of my scan. Sorry for the misunderstanding. The pictures are taken in 2003.

What an artful jigsaw puzzle composition, layering and coloring, with the exclamation point of the red dress! The careful balance of it all; without the Woman in Red (and your elbow?) that unique something would be missing.

Thank you Rog; I was just pondering what to do with the reflections when I saw the Woman in Red turn up... had to make up my mind fast to get the shot--so my elbow is evidence...

Lovely, Bo. My wife is as mad about water and equally phobic about mosquitoes... 😄
