I also have the feeling that prints shows the gradation of the negatives better than the negative scans. In addition, when scanning negatives, the grain is usually overemphasized and the scan looks often a bit harsh.

Thanks Kl@aus, I think perhaps I like the print more, though perhaps not 🙂 . Not sure why either but I think the brightness is more true to the actual scene than is the case in the negative scan. It was a chilly day but very bright. I could have dodged the top left a bit in the print as I lost a bit of detail on the roof and the branches. Maybe it depends on the subject. And the mood..The scan from the negative seems-compared to the print--a bit harsher; as "verwackelt" says. And the tint of the paper provides a certain amount of vintage look, adding to the content in this case. Backwater has simultaneously two meanings; one is the stagnant current of a river, yet another meaning has to do with a peaceful place of quiet tranquility. I live next to the Colorado Lagoon, which has an outlet to the ocean. For a long time the ecology was mismanaged, but now it's a wetland sanctuary. The setting sun reflects off the water, and it's "bright." This is what kickstarted Backwater Bright. Last year I found a 1,2 kg example... It is more a habitat or a complete cosmos than a single mushroom... Where I live, Steinpilz= Boletus edulis is the most common edible mushroom. Not bad.
