Michael Hiles Posted November 30, 2017 Share #43142 Posted November 30, 2017 Super result, well worth all the efforts and skills needed at every stage of the process. Thanks Keith, much appreciated.
stray cat Posted December 1, 2017 Share #43143 Posted December 1, 2017 I made a silver print today of this image, with the welcome assistance of a newly acquired Analyser-Pro from RH Designs. An extremely useful tool. There is a bit of a learning curve to (mainly) determine what you actually want your print to look like. It doesn’t think for you – it assists your own thought process. But it works very well indeed. The print looks as good as the screen image (which is carefully “printed” with Photoshop Elements and Silver Efex Pro). The picture was made last February in the Masi Mara, Kenya. The elephants (in fact all animals) ignored our vehicle, and we got very close to some impressive locals. XP2, 200mm Telyt, if anyone cares. I concur with Keith's comments - this really is a wonderful end-result for what must have been an incredible experience. As for the "if anyone cares" addendum to your equipment note - I do. I value visiting this thread for many reasons, not least among them that I get to learn from other people's choices of gear and the working process they go through. To see the results and learn the process - that is very rewarding to me.

I value visiting this thread for many reasons, not least among them that I get to learn from other people's choices of gear and the working process they go through. To see the results and learn the process - that is very rewarding to me. Thanks Phil – very kind and appreciated. Notwithstanding the Picasso quote below, The technical stuff can be interesting and instructive –and in that vein I continue to learn from so many. I have been lucky to learn from some people who really know their business. I am also not much inclined to listen to judgments linked to technical stuff. Would one of my pictures be better if it were somehow sharper? If that is the case, the picture must be pretty awful to begin with. Could my pictures be better if my craft skills improve? You betcha. So I have little interest in lens comparisons, but techniques that improve (for instance) printing – real food for growth. I long ago settled on one film, and I know how it works. And it produces results that satisfy all the criteria I have learned over now very many years. But finally, pictures rise or fall mainly on where we point the camera, and when we press the button. Thanks for listening to my quiet diatribe.

A miller Posted December 1, 2017 Share #43155 Posted December 1, 2017 Thanks, Steve. Hard to believe that's 50 years ago ..... he was one of my heroes at that time, along with Steve McQueen, if for no other reason than their racing cars (Newman at LeMans, after he made the movie)..... GREAT SHOT!!!!!! Never get tired of these. As for comment on my picture, thanks..... and yes, everyone hikes in LA, probably because ya can't walk to get a slice of pizza so you might as well take a hike and get in some views :-) Thanks, Phil. Yes, I really like using his camera Adam that's such a precious connection to have. Your old man was oviously no slouch - what a fantastic shot - but I reckon you're doing him proud with his gear now. Looks like the Hustler might be lining up a few drinks there... Congrats on the Adox. Did you find them in Australia? I'm pretty excited because the mail just arrived and in it was... (hint - not the rocks nor the camera): So these may be the first to be home-developed! Thanks, Steve. Love the look and I want to sample this film. However, according to the World Wide Web, Adox released Color Implosion as 'experimental' and available only until mid 2017, or thereabouts.. If this is true, it's a real shame. I've been searching for a uk source without any luck. :-( Thank you, Tmx! One of my favorite bands and records!@Adam: really cool photo!By the way Coors is not my case ;-) Thanks, Eoin! Excellent, Adam! As alive as if it were shot today. Very cool, Jean Marc!
