Hey everyone!

I'm very behind in printing my images of the San Diego vacation but this long holiday weekend I intend to remedy that!

Here are the first two, both are scans of 8x10 prints;

Shot #1 is my mom at 86 years of age cleaning up the patio. As long as I can remember that's been her thing, cleaning. Her hobby and vocation. She enjoys it so I don't say much. Notice my dear wife photobombing her in the lower left corner. That's her specialty. :)

Shot #2 is an interesting little fiat car that I saw while we were visiting.

Both were shot with my Olympus Trip 35 and Portra 400, and home developed and printed.

I have to say that I really like the color pallet of portra and I understand more clearly why folks chose certain films over others before scanning negatives was how images were shown. Choosing your pallet was part of the creative process...what you got, is what printed.34863127696_36e444e7dd_h.jpg

"Great colors, Steve.  Sometimes Ektar wins you over, eh? :)"

Choosing an emulsion best suited to the subject, Adam.  It's all part of the game.

I've used Ektar for years.  Especially in autumn.

So what's Velvia 50 and Provia in Autumn, chopped liver??? (roll eyes erratically)

A quick shot, taken last week, down one of the "streets" in the mesa-top Sky City of the Acoma people, not far from Albuquerque, New Mexico, US. Wandering was not allowed, understandable but a shame since the geometrics would respond to a slower exploration under a lower sun. But these are people's homes after all. Fascinating enough that the camera took second place for my attention. I sort of shotgunned. MP, 21 SEM and Tri-X, Developed in Adox Borax MQ.

Hope not, I'm a lifelong vegetarian.

Think warm colours.

In my color slide vs C41 film stock decisions I typically think more along the lines of contrast levels and EV latitude.

It's not really one of those "drink Rose' in the summer" kind of things for me...

This thread is proof positive of the relevance and validity of numerous film stock options in both warm and cool color situations...

Thanks, Richard.  Cool photo with nice midtones.  Looks like she has set him straight. :)

I can see why Adam, great stuff, love the simple rocks/shoreline contrasted against the far from simple background.

This one is just a random world-at-large moment with Delta 400

Thanks, Christoph.  Nice hearing from you.

Adam,

Stunning. The moving sky and the flag support each other, very dynamic.
And I understand that this is your favourite spot.

Rgds

Christoph

Love this one, Henry.

another with Ektar 100 for Gary

Leica M7-Summicron 35 Asph-Kodak Ektar 100 (dev in Tetenal)

Without noticing that before, I believe Ektar has less "contrast" than P400 and 160

less "color saturation" than P400 or 160 (it's not the case,I am wrong)

Thanks Adam, i love how Delta 400 can look like a pencil drawing, I never quite get this feeling from other films (yet.)

The RA-4 prints on the previous page look fantastic, great job, would love to try the process out one day, if I can stumble on a slot processor perhaps.

Really like the slides above STK, your daughters chocolate birthday cake face is so sweet, a lovely memory, and the finches are a great capture.

Thank you Phil. Whilst the heart problem is a pain (literally) and a worry, it has re=awakened my pleasure in many of my film images and re-inspired me to shoot film again. I do genuinely feel that Leica and film were made for each other in some kind of magical way.

Gerry

Hi Gerry - I share Your problems ( have got the same ...) and Your love for Leica and film. All the best to You, courage and many many nice pics during the next years.

Have really been enjoying your pictures, Stefan - this Goldfinch picture reminds me somehow of some of the Botanical illustration pictures from days gone by, as does the lighting in the lovely portrait of your daughter  - classic.
