Hi everyone,

Would one of you know if the Artisan & Artist half-case fits the Leica M? I can see no indication to that effect on their website, and my emails to them have remained unanswered.

Thanks.

A&A doesn't make a half case for the M 240 yet.

Have you looked at the Arte di Mano cases? Beautifully made! There are a variety of different models for the M 240:

Hi Codik,

I was an M9-P user with an A&A half case. Like you, I was trying to see if this case fits the new M. I just got my M240 two days ago.

Yes, it fits quite nicely BUT the scroll wheel is partially covered and that makes scrolling difficult. If you have a nimble thumb and can work on the wheel with it partially covered, probably you can live with it. I find it uncomfortable and frustrating because I need 3 times more action to scroll left/right than you would if it's not partially hidden.

So, I continued to use my new M without any protection for now. Well, perhaps that's just me. :)

Have a look at Luigi's web page

Luigi's half case for M 240 is very well made.

I got mine a few days ago and I'm very happy with it

Here you can see a picture of mine

Prior to getting the arte di mano for my M9, I tried 3 other half cases. I'm not going to name names or bash however their fit left a lot to be desired. The arte di mano Is top notch quality and fits perfectly.

The leather smells good too and encourages you to take more photos! lol

I custom ordered one from Dale for my new M and they helped me get exactly the color and stitching I wanted. Sure theres cheaper but if you want the best and care about quality......

Their half cases also have a front grip that makes a nice difference as well.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I see that there is a tripod hole embedded in the base of this case. So how thick is the base? How tall does it add to the camera with the case mounted? I assume that the camera's tripod hole will not be used with this case on.

Thanks.

There is no noticeable difference in height when the case is on. A strap is not included.

For the new M, the case I ordered accepts the EVF.

I know the cases are not cheap. However you get what you pay for and that's why we shoot the best and nothing but the best for my babies.

...in the meantime I found Arte di Mano case more atractive so maybe I'll get this one instead of A&A.

I see it has a built in grip. What is this made of? Is it some hard material inside or something like sponge?

I have the Arte de Mano case for my M and it is the dogs bollocks:D……………..the grip is neither hard or soft it’s just the same as the rest of the case

I highly recommend the Arte Di Mano cases as well. The grip is a semi-hard piece of material, neither to soft nor too hard. Here's a link to some photos of the case on my M9 if you're interested..Len M. Photography | Arte Di Mano M9 Half Case

Look back in this forum, another post mentioned that the A&A case was not the type of leather one expects when a product is described as "leather".

I've just bought the "open Arte di Mano" after an exhaustive search for all the M TYP240 cases currently available when using a Thumbs-up.
