dkCambridgeshire Posted June 7, 2013 Share #1342 Posted June 7, 2013 Probably just means he has more than one of the same model. But - are there enough of them to give every premier dealer more than one demo model during the first week? dunk

Fran D Posted June 7, 2013 Share #1347 Posted June 7, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Guys, the RX1 EVF is great. I recommend it over all the optical ones. The RX1 was an experiment by Sony. It wasn't built down to a price. Sony engineers were told to build the smallest FF camera they could with the best components. Sony then priced it appropriately, to make their standard margin. The accessories are a bit overpriced but after using this camera for some months Sony can do no wrong in my eyes BTW it was only £50 for a charger and spare battery kit from amazon.de. I am using a JJC metal lens hood. and hoya pro filter (B+W filters don't fit under hood as the rim is too thick). I agree about the RX1 EVF, After spending for the price of the camera, it seemed to me that it was worth spending the extra dough for their EVF. No regrets. dkCambridgeshire Posted June 7, 2013 Share #1348 Posted June 7, 2013 Let's hope that Leica Mayfair have employed extra security over the weekend so that they do not all get nicked dunk

tobey bilek Posted June 7, 2013 Share #1350 Posted June 7, 2013 I`ll not speculate except to say Leica is after the intermediate price crowd. I suggest you download the "Paula "samples which are 100 % and then and then enlarge them double with command + (+ key) on mac. When I doubled the size, no detail was lost. Don`t know about windows, long forgotten. These samples are impressive.
stunsworth Posted June 7, 2013 Share #1351 Posted June 7, 2013 But - are there enough of them to give every premier dealer more than one demo model during the first week? That's not that many cameras. They've probably been making this for a few months. I suspect they could do the same with any body when it's launched, the problem is that the initial production run sells out very quickly and they then have to rely on the manufacturing arm to take the strain. (SR5) Also a new RX FF coming soon (in late August?) | sonyalpharumors Take that Leica! Sony about to launch a new RX Full Frame camera! | Mirrorless Rumors Leica should be applying their technical advantages in the M240 sensor and unparalleled range of lenses and introducing them to a wider audience. Lee Martin Posted June 7, 2013 Share #1355 Posted June 7, 2013 I'm pretty sure that Leica would sell more RX1s labelled "Leica" for $2800 than they would X Varios for $3200 (assuming the rumors are true,) which I think is the point. Heck, they might sell more Leica labelled RX1s for $4200 then they would the X Vario for $3200. The only way I see this rumored camera being interesting is if the fixed zoom collapses flat into the body. I still wouldn't spend $3200 on it, but it would make a little more sense. I completely agree, and retain credibility at the same time, rather than selling old technology. The RX1 has almost a cult following, and something equally impressive from Leica would potentially do the same. I understand that they now have to satisfy the accountants , so I suppose you have to produce these products alongside the top end ones. If they sell thousands of them and it generates millions ,then fair play, they can at least use some of that for more research and development . sblitz Posted June 7, 2013 Share #1359 Posted June 7, 2013 so maybe the most cost effective answer is to shoot sony for digital and leica for film -- using the difference between the m and sony to buy a lens for an m6?
jip Posted June 7, 2013 Share #1360 Posted June 7, 2013 So it's called an M it doesn't have a Messsucher, and it doesn't seem to have interchangeable lenses... so it's a Leica RX1? really disapointed, also disapointed that they now call it a M while it doesn't have a Messsucher... bad bad bad way of changing the meaning of M...
