cocker Posted April 1, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted April 1, 2007 How awful. All M8s should be immediately recalled and beamed up to outer space on this stairway to the stars. This is obviously a sign of the wrath of the great god Ilford

gravastar Posted April 1, 2007 Share #11  Posted April 1, 2007 So ... has anyone figured what it might be ... ? Is the laser display for that one special day only, or is at other days and times as well?  Bob.
farnz Posted April 1, 2007 Author Share #12 Â Posted April 1, 2007 Is the laser display for that one special day only, or is at other days and times as well? No, Bob, it's the laser that's shines(?) from Greenwich Observatory every night. The laser marks the path of the Prime Meridian, or 0 degrees longitude, and divides the eastern and western hemispheres. Â The weird thing is that from under it the laser looks like its shining up into the sky but when you turn around it's shining back down into the distance. A good illustration of the curvature of the earth? Â With all the talk of banding problems it seemed like April Fool's Day was a good opportunity for a little amusement to lighten the mood. (My apologies to anyone who may have mistaken this as a real problem.) Â Here's another view of the laser. Â Pete.
tashley Posted April 1, 2007 Share #13 Â Posted April 1, 2007 I think you have a very strangely arrayed band of dust on your sensor. Try using a WATE at 16mm stopped down to f16 and leaving the cap on to check this... or blow your nose before changing lenses... Â t
steich Posted April 2, 2007 Share #14 Â Posted April 2, 2007 You must have a beta version of firmware 4/01 ! According to my internal sources at Solms the new FW implements a laser distance meter to cope with the backfocus problems. Stefan
