What's left when you take the air out of an Air? .

jaapv Posted April 28, 2013 Share #62 Posted April 28, 2013 Not so in the US where I do most of my travel and some international. Never had to take the iPad out of my briefcase. The Air has never gotten away in my briefcase. But it is a 13". I see. I have the 11" and use it as a reader too, so it is ready to grab when flying anyway. brill64 Posted April 29, 2013 Share #63 Posted April 29, 2013 ..if in the past you used to carry a cartload of film, keep things simple & carry a cart load of sd-cards. 8 & 16gb cards are probably safer than putting everything on one 64gb card. Spend less time fiddly-downloading & more time enjoying your holiday.
digitalfx Posted April 29, 2013 Share #64 Posted April 29, 2013 Even thogh I shoot with 16GB cards, I never understood the "safer than 64GB" concept. First Ive never lost a single SD or CF card in many years of shooting, but dont we all carry all of our 16GB cards in the same spot? So if you lost one 16GB card while traveling, chances are you lost them all. Also if you have a handfull of 16GB cards, arent you copying them to your laptop as you go since you fill them up faster? Now all your images are back in one location again...so what was the point.
jaapv Posted April 29, 2013 Share #65 Posted April 29, 2013 Err... No. I am copying them to a HDD which is kept in a safe place, it has nothing to do with filling up. The SD cards are kept in another place. The simple backup concept of redundancy... Only a fool would delete them from an SD card and reuse the card. erl Posted April 30, 2013 Share #66 Posted April 30, 2013 Digitalfix, I acknowledge the "each to his own" concept and support the idea, but now I only shoot 16GB cards for theatrical shoots because I can usually fit the whole performance on one card uninterrupted. However, for travel, I prefer 8GB as max, not just because of loss of card, I did lose one last year, it was 16GB and nearly full. That represented toooo much total loss. Now I fill a card, store it safely and load a fresh one. Carrying a stash of SD cards is waaaay easier than toting any laptop etc. But that is just my preference.
