dkCambridgeshire Posted February 27, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted February 27, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yesterday I tried to source a secondhand APO-EXTENDER-R 2X in the UK but could not find any listed. I eventually ordered one from Vienna which was cheaper than those previously seen listed in the UK. The new M has probably created increased demand. I have not ordered a New M ... I need the extender for use with a DSLR. Â Before Christmas the APO-EXTENDER-R 2X was listed by all the main UK dealers and easily obtainable. Â There are still 'heaps' of the regular non-Apo 2x extender available but they are not so popular ... even though they are capable of giving good results. I have used the regular EXTENDER-R 2X on 4/3 format and am very pleased with the results. Â dunk

mgcd Posted February 28, 2013 Share #5 Â Posted February 28, 2013 I also totally agree, it would not be a good combination at all with the regular 2x extender. The Apo-Extender 2x is truly the only way to go in this matter.

masjah Posted March 7, 2013 Share #8  Posted March 7, 2013 But new they were well over £1000. (I always thought the ROM version was quite a sophisticated beast. The "ROM chip" was actually a microprocessor talking to the lens and relaying correct true aperture and focal length back to the camera, including variable aperture zoom lenses like the 21-35 and 28-90.) Other notables 105-280/4.2 USD6995 and same price for the APO 70-180. Even the APO 1.4x was USD1795 back then.

All identical, but with slightly different prices and coming from different countries, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. I would be extremely hesitant to hit the BIN button, to put it mildly. k-hawinkler Posted March 8, 2013 Share #11 Â Posted March 8, 2013 Jaap, Â I noticed that also with listings for other Leica items and didn't consider those for a long time. But, I finally made a bid on a Vario 28-90 and received a lens in mint condition. YMMV.
