luigi bertolotti Posted February 21, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted February 21, 2013 Afaik, no... the version with large ring and "Elmar 5cm" and "Leitz Wetzlar etc..." engravings does not bear the 12580 code... and the previuos version had the old code ITOOY. Michael Geschlecht Posted February 21, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted February 21, 2013 Hello cameosis, Â Welcome to the Forum. Â I don't know if any were marked 12580 but some were marked "ITOOY" with "1:2.8/50" to the left & "1:3.5/50" to the right. Â There is a picture of an ITOOY, markings not visible, in the thread "Leica Historica" by J C Braconi in the section dealing with the Leica Ig. Â "Leica Historica" is at the top of the Section "Leica Collectors & Historica". Â You might also find the part dealing with "Lens Hoods" in the "Screwmount" section of the "Wiki" at the top of this page interesting. cameosis Posted February 21, 2013 Author Share #4  Posted February 21, 2013 luigi and michael, thank you both for your replies.  michael, the later version which you mentioned is the one i came across -- i wondered if there was one with the catalog number, since the "ernst leitz wetzlar" engraving indicates it might be from the early sixties.  thanks again, tomis Welcome, dear visitor! Orient XI Posted February 25, 2013 Share #5 Â Posted February 25, 2013 The one I bought with my Ig in June 1960 (which I still have:D) is exactly like the one shown. I believe that the evocative codes were not replaced by random numbers until some time later.

Michael Geschlecht Posted February 27, 2013 Share #9  Posted February 27, 2013 Hello Orient XL,  Well, for a start:  11xxx  11 is for "Lenses".  9 someplace after the first 2 digits can mean 1 member of a family of high index glasses used in certain post World War II longer lenses.  Best Regards,  Michael
