Advertisement Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Hi kdriceman, Take a look here Leica M live veiw and sports. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jeffry Abt Posted February 21, 2013 Share #22 Posted February 21, 2013 The Shot Putt! That's the ticket, I'm getting the new M. .... Stretching for an excuse. Golf? If you can get close with a 35mm.
BerndReini Posted February 21, 2013 Share #23 Posted February 21, 2013 I think the live view will be limited by the 60fps refresh rate as opposed to the 120fps of the Olympus OMD.
AlanG Posted February 21, 2013 Share #24 Posted February 21, 2013 I think most of the issue is the lack of AF not anything to do with an EVF. The newest Sony semi silvered mirror cameras use EVFs and are designed to improve action shooting as they focus continuously while shooting.
jaapv Posted February 21, 2013 Share #25 Posted February 21, 2013 I'd be more interested in having more pictures in focus for an editor or myself TODAY than I would in historical results. Ah - but focus mattered to them as well

Jaybob Posted February 21, 2013 Share #27 Posted February 21, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I could use the handle of a screwdriver to drive in nails, but a hammer is a much better tool. Personally, I wouldn't choose a manual focus camera to shoot sports with. It's do-able, but my success rate with AF is higher.
jaapv Posted February 21, 2013 Share #28 Posted February 21, 2013 I don't think anybody was contesting that.
Jeffry Abt Posted February 21, 2013 Share #29 Posted February 21, 2013 The " success rate".... there is already too much profanity on the side lines. Why add to it? I remember Lee Travino putting with a coke bottle. He was not that bad... I still would not try sports with a "M".
chris_tribble Posted February 21, 2013 Share #30 Posted February 21, 2013 My experience with the M + EVF + long lens is that it's really good for: landscape portraiture nature / wildlife with still or slow moving subjects It's also great for pretty well anything where you'd be using a tripod...(and with a viso extension tube + Apo Telyt 135 its a brilliant macro tool...) HOWEVER, for certain kinds of performance + fast moving subject work I've decided to hold on to the 5D2 + L series 70-200 f2.8 IS and 300 2.8. Horses for courses...
